vaginal delivery or c-section after third degree tear took months to heal?

I am 36 weeks with second pregnancy. DD 2 years old. She was ventouse delivery and I had third degree tear, episiotomy, retained placenta and blood transfusion.

Really worried about tearing again as that took so long to heal, months. When it healed it felt very tight during sex and a little painful.

Consultant recommending planned c-section saying don't take the risk and midwife saying go natural as everything will stretch and help "tightness"!

DD was only 6lb and this baby already 7lb on growth scan with larger head more on the 100 centile!

Any advice please? very confused.

Gosh your had a hard time

I also had a shitty labour with DD1 episiotomy, 2 failed ventose attempts, finally delivered with forceps.

DD2 (2 year later) i had another VB she was born after just 3 pushes and i had just a tiny tear, which healed fully withing a week (no stitches).

I am also 38weeks pg with DS1 and i a praying that things will go as well this time.

i had exactly the same as you and went for a cs second time around and it was marvellous!!! It was so calm, far less painful and my baby is a lot calmer. After the cs the first couple of days I found very painful but, provided you get up and get on with it, I recovered very quickly. I found that if I spent time laying around my stomach hurt more.

Go for the cs don't be scared. I was terrified and felt like I wasn't doing it properly by not giving birth naturally. However, I now look back on my second delivery as a wonderful event rather than the terrifying upsetting ordeal I went through with my first child. The other thing is that with my cs, the consultant tightened my bladder or whatever it was down there so tena lady is now a thing of the past!

Good luck don't do what you think evryone thinks is the right thing - remember you need to get better as you will have two children depending on you.

I too had the same. Horrendous labour with baby number 1 (3 day labour / alergic reaction to sentocin (?)/ ventouse / episotomy/ finally rotataional forceps which resulted in 3 degree tear). Was offered counselling afterwards as birth and recovery was traumatic. I was on antibiotics for 3 months etc..

So when investigated options for baby number 2 my midwife told me off the record that I would be mad to have a Vbac as I would have a high probability of it happening again. So I pushed the hospital for an elective and the experience was completely different. Very calm and controlled. The baby was out in 45 minutes and my recovery time (physically and mentallY) was very quick in comparison to a 3rd degree tear. Only you can decide but I would definitely recommend that you make an appointement to speak to the midwife and consultant now to agree your labour.

I have had both, 1 emcs and vbac2 and wouldn't chose a section tbh.
