Hi there,

Anyone ever had refelxology to bring on labour? I'm nearly 37 weeks and went to 42 with dd so wanted to book something in for a few weeks time just in case!

Hi had reflexology but it did not bring on labour; was still late. Very relaxing though so do it.

Two friends have had this too and they were closer to due dates than me. I'm going to try it again near my due dates. Acupuncture very good for this too (may be available on NHS in your area, they don't seem to advertise it!!)

Ooh, it won't be too long anyway...Good luck

Hello, I had two reflexology "inductions" - but not sure if they really triggered anything or not. I eventually went in to labour 8 days late, but it was very quick so maybe that's where it might have helped.

Fab, thank you! Will check out acupunture and book reflexology session if only for the relaxation and quick labour benefits.

yes had one session and went into labour the following morning - obviously dont know if it was going to happen anyway or not. One thing i would say is that it really hurt when she pressed on the uterus point on my heel - i think if its being done right (to induce labour) it will not be all relaxing. The reflexologist made it quite clear it would be painful.

I had a session which ended at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon and my waters broke about 1.30 the following morning. My reflexologist said it is considered unethical to do the special bringing-on-labour-therapy before the pregnancy has run its full term. My dates were a bit fuzzy but I was about 4 days over.

Yes I had my session the afternoon before my due date - so waters broke next morning on my due date. Will certainly be giving it a go this time once i get to the same stage.

Actually yes, come to think of it, on reading jasper's post, it was pretty painful. I had 2 different types - one when I was standing upright (odd, I know - only for about 5 minutes) and then the normal lying-down one. I'd had reflex. all throughout my pregnancy & she had avoided the uterus area, but as soon as she touched it - wow, it hurt.

picklesmama · 17/02/2009 00:04

I had it 5 days before my due date and had my baby 2 days later. Absolutely marvellous - had a nice doze during and it was just wonderful. I was expecting a fast labour anyway but it only really hurt for about 45 minutes. Only just got to the hospital in time! Obviously did not have the painful one others had mentioned though!

It's sounding better and better! I'd best ring soon, can't believe it's nearly time for this

I had reflexology throughout my pregnancy and when I went overdue. Didn't bring anything on but loved it anyway!
