Mine worked brilliantly and I would heartily recommend it - the mobile ones are particularly fab. One thing though - ds trapped a nerve in my leg when he turned to come out, which the epi doesn't touch as it works (apparently) on different muscles/nerves. I gather this isn't unheard of, but if that does happen, take heart as it is over as soon as the baby moves past that bit! Only mention this as I was shocked after all the NCT you-will-have-no-feeling-from=the-eyebrows-down blurb that anything could hurt at all after the epidural, whereas once it was explained and I was told it was short term I wasn't so freaked and it was quite manageable. Hope this helps, and GOOD LUCK and hope you have such a breeze of a time you don't need one at all!

My epidural was brilliant - no problems whatsoever and I hope so much that i can have another successful one at my baby's next birth.

I have to say that my birth experience was incredibly serene and chilled out - unlike all my friends who had natural pain-free labours, most of whom were too traumatised to open their eyes during the actual birth!

sorry - i meant my next baby's birth, not my baby's next birth - i have no intention of putting my bouncing one year old back to where she came from!

And i also meant my friends who had natural pain-relief free births. Pregnancy hormones are really kicking in now!!!

And I don't know WHAT happened just then. I'll think i'll get my coat...

I thought I would want an epidural and so told MW when I arrived at the Del.Suite and contractions were 4 mins apart. She said that the anethesist- or whatever they are called was in theatre and when he came out he would come along- sooner than I actually wanted but she advised me that he may not be around when I wanted one so to have one now if I thought I wanted one.
So I did and felt the tingly sensation down my back etc... but as he pinched my legs ouch!!! I could still feel everything- so my awaited for (not for long) epidural was useless and MW said that it only works for 70% of women anyhow.
