Friend was due to have a planned C section today - but now it's getting late and still no news. Getting worried.

She's a really good friend of mine and they had a bit of a nightmare conceiving. Pregnancy has been OK but it's a C-section coz the baby is breech.

If you had a planned C section how long did it take for you to spread the happy news? I am worried something's not right and so is a friend of mine who's a nurse and generally not one to fret.

I know 2 people who were booked to be first section of the day, one finally got to theatre about 7pm, one got delayed until the next day!

Could well be very busy on the ward and it's not happened yet.

My Dh sent a text to friends that night (DD and Ds both born by c-section at around 1pm). I got in touch the following day.

Stinkyfeet · 21/01/2009 20:34

I went in at 8.30am, didn't go into theatre until about 4pm. So would still have been in recovery at this time. Don't think I contacted anyone apart from my parents and in-laws until the following day.

Try not to worry - they're probably caught up in the exitement of it all. She may well still be groggy from the op.

Also planned c c sections can be postponed if there are emergencies.

travellingwilbury · 21/01/2009 20:37

I know it must be hard for you sitting and waiting , but like others have said things could have been delayed .

I have had to have an emergency section in the past and probably caused this sort of upset to people who were booked in . If it is a busy hospital then maybe they have had a couple of emergencies so all is delayed .

I do hope you hear something soon though as I am sure the waiting for news must be hard .

ups x posted with stinkyfeet.
II hope they'll be in touch soon, Pennies. I'd be a nervous wreck too.

Try not to worry too much. Lots can happen, but most likely she's still recovering. A lot of people I know say that the hours/day after their C-section (emergency or planned) was kind of a haze. Figure my sil doesn't really remember the day at all.

LilRedWG · 21/01/2009 21:15

I was high on morphine for 24 hours after mine. DH did the notifying. Is her DH likely to be organised enough to do that?

EightiesChick · 21/01/2009 22:46

My planned section happened on time but before now I have had serious surgery knocked forward to the next day because a running-down-the-corridors, must be done now level emergency came in and took precedence. So this may well have happened. I would leave it for the moment rather than ringing, though I can understand it's hard to be wondering. Hopefully you will hear something soon.
