Pretty good - I'm also low risk so after the first few at the hospital am now at the GP's midwife... they're all very sweet! (although they DID lose my blood results for a clotting test I had done, and I had to have another SIX vials taken...) other than that, all good.

You?

Have just been at the GP so far, so that's why I'm interested. Glad you've had a good experience. the blood test thing was probably a lab issue which I'm sure is a universal thing so that doesn't really worry me.
I've worked at my most local hospitals which is why I'm going slightly further up the road (don't really want my ex-colleagues to be delivering me!) My GP told me Epsom is well-regarded so was hoping to hae some patient feedback backup!

Good luck for April!

I did in 2006. I also had a baby in 2008 at another hospital.

Anyway, Epsom in 2006 was fabulous (labour ward).

The postnatal ward was however understaffed. So watch out that you have all the stuff that you need and you have visitors that are going to come and help you etc.

OOOH . It was six years ago but I had the most fantastic birth at Epsom. I had a suite to myself and the midwife was fabulous. I had a really quick birth after which DH went home to get DS1 and DS2. The midwife helped DS1 give DD herfirst birth and got tv and sandwiches for the two boys. They were unbelivably kind in helping us get DS2 ( with severe ASD) used to new baby.

I actually went back to the hospital to hand in a thank you card and tried to see midwife but she was busy delivering.

It was just heaven.
the only downer was that they would not believe that local anesthetic does not work and had two goes at jabbing and stitching before they realsied. Poor Doc refused to stick and they had to get someone who would just do it while I had gas and air.

Other than that fabtastic

meant to add the other hospital (in another region) in 2008 was shocking. You will be fine at Epsom.

Thanks for the input, that's very reassuring.

I had my dd at Epsom in May and it was a good experience. She spent 24 hours in SCBU and in total we were the for 4 days and the care was good. Nothing to compare it with as she's my first but I was happy with things.

I had dd in Epsom in Jan 08. Overall a very good experience, more so before than after tbh but I was forewarned about that. Some of the midwives are a bit dragon-esque but there is a fantastic one, don't know if I can mention her name but it begins with L and ends in ouise!

DD was also in scbu for a few days and they are totally fab although hope you never find out
