Have recenty been told I don't need a section afterall and think I'm more likely to get good midwife care in MW-led unit that on labour ward. Hoping to go and have a look round but haven't got long to go so might not fit it in in time and just wondered if anyone had used it & what your experience was like?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh good luck HOM. Tears do sound scary.

I don't think they are generally anti HB. Even whenthey said I had a 70% chance of needing emergency C-S they still were getting me ready fro a HB first time oun. only when I needed to be induced did they say I had to come in.

I think that they don't have strict policies as such I think it depends who you speak to and how risk-adverse they are a the time.

I live in Merton Abbey/C.Wood. I don't fancy my chances at St.Helier, supposedly an awful place.
St.G's are only so anti HB because of my c-section. Mr Manyonda said my scar could rupture I happen to know there is only a 1% chance of that happening!
Wow, 3 weeks to go! Was your last DC on time? I'm adding 2 weeks to my due date as DS was 12 days late.
Would love to hear about how your birth goes

dinny · 17/01/2009 21:39

lots of you around St G's vicinity..where were you all when I lived there, eh???

WobblyPig · 17/01/2009 21:43

Where did you move to Dinny? Ha! Also adding 2 weeks to my due date I was 18 days overdue.

FruitynNutty · 17/01/2009 21:45

I bet she moved to a good catchment area

dinny · 17/01/2009 21:47

lol, I did move out in time for dd to start school - the wilds of Surrey

FruitynNutty · 17/01/2009 21:48

jesus wept! eighteen days!!! I thought 12 was bad. I had to be induced.

WobblyPig · 17/01/2009 21:49

LOL

FruitynNutty · 17/01/2009 22:04

Do you think we need a Wimbledon anti-natal group? There seem to be quite a lot of SW19 buns cooking. Can all compare notes about St.G's

dinny · 17/01/2009 22:06

lol at typo, F&N, I am feeling quite ANTI natal now am faced with labour!

oooh, go on - meet in Wimbledon Park and I'll drive up to share my St G's nuggets

FruitynNutty · 17/01/2009 22:11

hahaha ante ante ante FFS! What is wrong with me? You do^ realise these babies suck our brains from us

FruitynNutty · 17/01/2009 22:16

here is the thread I've started

thehouseofmirth · 18/01/2009 09:21

Fruity, my friend didn't get her HB as she went quite overdue but had a fab experience at St Helier. It looks horrid but I think the quality of care is good.

I thought the risk of rupture was only 0.3%?

Ooh really? only 0.3%? even better!
I'll see what the consultant says when I see him next. Tbh he's put the fear of God into me now about having a HB. Would love to get into Carmen though.
I've never actually been to St.Helier so no first hand knowledge. St.G's is better for me as I can walk there for midwife appointments
