VBA2C - rupture risk

(not for me I'm happy to be sliced )

Does anyone know the risk of rupture (with citation if possible)? A friend has been given a ridiculously high risk/minimal chance of success & told '2 sections means always a section'. She's feeling extremely vulnerable, where can I point her to get some accurate information?

Her first section was standard long first labour/failure to progress, tried VBAC with the second but unfortunately the baby had serious problems & although she was progressing well she ended up with an emergency section for fetal distress. Because of the circumstances of her second birth she is getting no support from anybody - her family won't even discuss it with her

Could do a search on www.studentmidwives.co.uk/phpBB3/index.php, eg. here.

Obviously they aren't there to give advice but they often swap details on studies and papers when discussing subjects like this.

if she goes to ICAN there are plenty of studies, statistics and general help for women wanting to know more about VBAC (and the risks of caesarean too)

Thankyou both! I shall pass those on
