it would do more good to look at why you had a c.section last time and what you can do to improve the odds of a VBAC this time
also, did your friends all give birth the same hospital? were they induced? were the babies malpositioned? did theyh have epidurals?
lots of things can contribute to lack of progression in labour and the need for a c.s
I had an emergecny c.s with DS and a VBAC with DD
but i am 99 . 99 % sure that i had a c,s because i was induced a week early, i was not ready for labour, i spent the whole of the labour in a bed, on a drip, with constant monitoring, and an epidural, and my labour did not progress
with my DD had spontanoues labour at term and was active and upright as long as i could bear it and used gas and air and a small dose of pethidine
i had also fully debriefed my c.s and read a lot about birth and had supportive birth partners who knew how important a VBAC was fro me and helped me get there
i really don't thikn the sex of the baby is a determining factor, there are lots of other more relevant things to look at
