Is this a totally outrageous idea?

Only a thought, but would consider it seriously if it wasn't deemed crazy.
If all goes to plan I'd like a water birth at MLU. Has anyone ever had DH in pool with them? I know they can offer support/massage etc from outside, but are there major issues with having someone in with you? Thought it would be nice but not sure if it's considered crazy for any reason??
Any thoughts?

I've seen lots of birth programs where this happens so I assume it would be fine.

Ewww

Sorry, but mine with dd1 was like a bloodbath... and dp was ever-present with the colander

DD2 was quite clear though..

I know someone who did this. Hadn't planned it but she just wanted him to hold her in the pool so he got in.

Said it was lovely.

I imagine it could be very helpful to labour - having lots of skin to skin contact with your DH. It'd make you produce more oxytocin, which would be good for labour.

BTW , the girl I mentioned, her DP is a very hunky, good looking guy. Maybe the midwives were more than usually encouraging because they didn't mind him stripping down to his boxers in the delivery room!

Ha ha nice one gabygirl.
My DP totally wants to be in there to hold me and give me support so surely MW's would let him. I really hope they wouldn't have a problem with it anyway. The unit seems to be very open to whatever makes the woman most comfortable.
Thanks for replies x
