Does anyone have a good remedy for erm, labial grazes?

Because I got one when DS2 was born 2 days ago and it is agony I also have a tiny 2nd degree tear but that isn't bothering me much. I leak a bit of wee onto the graze when I cough, and have to wee in the bath if at all because the pain is worse than giving birth. Saw the out of hours doctor today and he suggested vaseline as a barrier, which did nothing, and vagisil cream which helps a tiny bit.

Is there anything else I can try? It's keeping me awake, as if DS2 needed any help!

felt a little silly - I'm not still doing this 2.5 years and another birth later....

Well guess what? At 3.30am after starting this thread I was in such pain that I had to go to the hospital and they fitted a catheter under gas and air I was so swollen that it was impossible to wee and as the graze is apparently very deep and very close to my clitoris - on the inside - it is no wonder I was in pain. Oh and it was infected. So I got home this morning and I have to have the catheter for a fortnight[shock

And I have to complain about the GP who didn't examine me and prescribed vaseline FGS, as apparently my bladder could have been permanently damaged.

Not quite what I expected to happen when I started the thread!

Oh you poor thing. I was talking salt baths a few weeks ago and it cleared up (Thankfully) but it sounds like you've been left with serious tears. Hope you complain and hope something is done about it. Sorry to hear about the Catheter

Yes even the hospital doctors recommended salt so I will definitely be using some, thanks.

Beanieb you know what, I am so darned grateful not to be weeing on that graze that I have completely blocked the fact that I have turned into an old person and will shortly be advertising tena lady!

few drops of comfrey in lukewarm water that you pour over your bits helps with the stinging (and keeps area clean)

lavendar bath or sea salt bath works well too. Will pass soon.

Oh Provincial Lady - just read about your hospital trip. Poor you! The comfrey will help when you get back to peeing normally (does the same kind of thing as salt baths).

Is that an essential oil dinky? I am sending DH to the health food shop in a minute so he could get some for me.

I got it from Neals Yard Remedies - it is an essential oil so your health food shop should have it. Only need a couple of drops.

Cheers, he is on his way
