Does anyone know how you do this?
Was it effective for you?
Does it have risks?

I think it might be obvious what you do but not something I would do.

Is this a new development?

I don't know if it is new but I have heard others, on here and in RL, suggesting it.

What I want to know is:
(a) what dosage to use
(b) whether you use an intact capsule or squeeze out the oil
(c) where you place it
(d) has it worked for others
(e) are there risks?

I did google this the other day, after NCT teacher mentioned it. I think its something like 500mg 3 times a day orally after 39 weeks. You can also break open a capsule and insert it into your vagina before bedtime as close to your cervix as possible.
Do a search on google to be sure tho as don't want to give you the wrong info..

I did do it. I used a very high....whats the word......oh just high you know what I mean! It was like a 1000mg capsule which I stuck up there. It was the same as the oral ones and just disolved.

Its not supposed to induce labour but its supposed to help soften your cervix.

Make sure you wear a pad to catch the excess oil because it does of course come out. And do it at nighttime because it'll just fall out otherwise. And take it orally too.

No idea if it helped for me or not but I was willing to try anything. What did help was evening primrose oil but I know thats not for everyone. I also know its not recommended by health professionals as it can dehydrate you but as long as you keep hydrated and don't over do it then you should be ok. Its been used for hundreds of years as an induction method. Theres also some evidence to suggest it makes baby pass meconium but I don't think that evidence was every substantiated. And my daughter didn't pass meconium.
