VBAC or C-Section - I just cannot decide

I know this is a common thread but I am in turmoil about my decision. I am 34 weeks pregnant and know I have to make my decision soon. I had an emergency c-section last time, crash situation, and now I do not know what to do. I thought docs and midwifes would recommend a c-section as I only dilated 5cm after hours and hours, but theey seem to think my chances of VBac are good, but that I am looking at almost a 'first time labour'. I feel there is no medical reason for me to have a c-section but the fear of the unknown in a VBAC is terrifying. Please advise.

I had 1 emergency section, then 2 VBACs followed by another crash c section which I had severe blood loss and was lucky to survive after further surgery, then an elective section. I loved my VBACs and would always choose a VBAC where possible but after 2 CS they would not let me again. I had adhesions after my first CS and stuck bladder, and the same at my 3rd. I found recovery very tough and painful but the elective was far better than the EMCS. Good luck.

Hi everyone,

Just in case anyone is local- we are running a 'birth choices after caesarean' support group in Coventry to talk about exactly this kind of dilemma- in an unbiased way. First Thursday of each month (next meeting 2nd April). 7.30pm. For further details of this free support group- run by a group of mums who have experienced birth after caesarean, and supported by midwives and doulas, please contact NCT Coventry Branch on 0844 243 6096 or email: [email protected] and help spread the word. I went through this myself and found it really hard- ended up having a brill homebirth 2nd time with doula and NHS midwives- but that choice isn't for everyone.

Love to all of you- hope some of you can make it (I even bring biscuits!) Rachel xx

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat - but I am a really curious about this bladder stuck to uterus issue. There is probably a more related thread but i can't find one. What kind of symptons go with this. I have had two caesareans and have real problems with my bladder these days. Certainly no leaking problems, but it often hurts a bit when i urinate now because i often feel i have to 'push' to get it all out. I often feel that i have not completely emptied and can often get a bit more out two seconds later. Sorry - a bit graphic and may be completely unrelated...

The doctor told me my bladder was oversensitive and recommended drugs to sort it out. I thought she was mental and declined. Is it more likely to be due to my c section scar tissue!?
