So I've had two vbs and neither time can I remember what others describe as 'transition'. The second time I was specifically looking out for it too

Do I have to have a third child to try for the experience again?

Anyone else have a similar experience and stop me feeling like a lonely freak?

LOL at "bored now"

Joolyjoolyjoo · 28/10/2008 14:54

Actually with dd1 when I was in what I now suppose to be transition, I tried to escape through an air vent, and genuinely believed somewhere deep down that I would be able to, if I scrabbled at it long enough and with enough urgency Very odd and almost weirdly primitive. Wasn't happy at all, though! DH thought I'd gone quite mad

mad4mybaby · 28/10/2008 15:17

was my transition when i started whispering to dh 'i cant do it anymore im going to die'??

Playdough · 28/10/2008 18:30

Nope, no transitions for me in either of my two previous births. First time had epidural but that was allowed to wear off for the pushing. Second time fast labour. But absolutely nothing of the despair/'get me out of here' type feeling in either of them. I am 38 + 5 with my third pregnancy, so I'll let you know what happens this time!

"IF I could identify anything 'odd' during that first one it was late into labour when I was eventually a lot calmer and thought 'I'm BORED now and could really do without this!' "

I bet that was it.

sweetkitty · 28/10/2008 18:40

With the first two I don't think I had transition was thinking I was dying from the off (my labours are fast with no build up of onctractions, I get the first one then the second one is straight after the first one has finished.

With DD3 (3 months ago) I had a "moment" where I was lying on the bed with the G&A and suddenly I took it out my mouth opened my eyes looked around the room and though I need to push now. I totally felt every inch of her come down and out, MW said push away first push we had a head second push a body cue everyone rushing around as they weren't ready for her.

Not sure about transition. Remembered in antenatal classes them saying 'transition is when you ask for an epidural (but its too late)'. Got to a point when I said 'wheres the man with the epidural' but that was partly because I was hoping I'd got to transition....
MW said 'hes not in today'

hIYA,

never experinced it myself either and funnyily today I was reading an article in a mag and was thinking about transition and that I didnt recall it.

I have had 2 relativly good births and im so glad I didnt have c/s,epidurals etc.

We will all ahve regrets throughout our pregnancy, labour and parenthood (mine is not attempting breastfeeding)

but we should all celebrate the great job we do!!

Star1ightExpress · 30/10/2008 16:20

Yep, you're right

No more kiddies for me then.

(but on the other hand...........)
