Hi,
i'm due in 2 weeks, and can't decide which hospital to choose...
also i'm Strep B positive...that means i'll have to stay at hospital for 48 hours to monitor baby's health, right?
any ideas, any comments on hospital staff and so on?

thanks

i would personally say king georges as long as you atre given antibiotics whilst in labour and baby will be monitored after birth no reason to stay in 24 hrs i had strep b and was home following day baby was monitored for 24 hrs all was well

queens i havent heard great tales but then could be the same for king georges with others my personal choice would be king georges my friend had baby there had no complaints

I laboured both my DDs in King Georges and never had a problem with them at all.
Staff were great, although my only criticism was I was shown how to latch the baby on properly. I managed to walk to KG in labour and the staff let me labour on for as long as I wanted to, and they left me alone with just minor intervention.

Mind you this was 1o years ago so things may have changed.

Hope you have a great labour and sending you best wishes.

thank you girls for the answers!
i'm going to antenatal classes at KG,and 90% of ladies are going to have babies at Queen's
i thought maybe it's really better to stay at KG...Queen's sounds really busy.. :O

Hi Foxybird

I delivered dd3 at Queen's in February and it was absolutely fantastic. I'd had two awful deliveries and lengthly stays at Harold Wood and St Johns(Chelmsford) and I was extremely apprehensive before delivering my third. Before delivery I wrote to the head of midwifery at Queen's for reassurance, I explained all the problems and "staff issues" I had encountered at the other two hospitals. I received a wonderful letter back and went into hospital with a positive attitude.

The delivery room was large, clean and very peaceful(rooms have been sound proofed). I had a great midwife and student midwife, they were attentive, encouraging and supportive the whole way through. I achieved a great vbac with little intervention from the staff which is what I stated in my birth plan.

I had a private room after delivering dd3 which again was peaceful and spotlessly clean. The midwives were attentive and helpful during my stay. I would recommend Queen's to anyone.

Good luck x

Hi Everyone, Im a first time mum to be and i am booked in to deliver at King George. I havent seen it yet - am due to go there next week. My concern is that i am hearing mixed reviews about it - foxbird: how was your experience there? Anyone else given birth there recently??? Want honest opinions on every aspect of it!!
