hi there, i'm 38 and a half weeks now with baby number 1!

for the last two days i've been having tightening across my belly and lots of pressure down below.

I constantly feel like i need a poo and have been going constantly. (sorry for the indepth info!)

The tops of my legs, my hips and the bottom of my back have a dull aching constantly.

i cant get comfy sitting, standing, squatting or walking! no severe pain tho, so do you think it's normal part of the end of pregnancy or could they be signs of the little one arriving soon!?

please help coz i've never experienced this before, i've no idea what is normal!

Thanks for your time!

It could be signs of labour, but its hard to say. I am sure you'll know soon enough. I had a show and then on off cramping like that for nearly 2 weeks with dd but with ds (1st) I only every felt niggly, but when I was examined I was 3 cm dilated, so who knows. Good luck.

oooh, sounds like your body is doing SOMETHING, but like katjo's, it might be a slow burn rather than a sign that it is all going to kick off any second.
Get any things that need sorting sorted (a few of my friends said that it was only when they got the last preparations out of the way that they properly started labour) then kick back & look after yourself..
I'll be watching for developments - good luck!

The night before i went into labour with ds1 i couldn't get comfy, was fidgeting about the place. thought it was just end of pg aches...
going to the loo loads will 'clear out' your system ready for labour so that's a good sign

all looking good but as others have said, no real clue as to how much longer you've got to go.....

good luck

if you want to get things going, clean the oven then bounce on a birthing ball - worked a charm for me!

mummyamber · 17/10/2008 16:08

well... things seemed to have slowed down again... no more cramping or tightening, looks like baby is staying put for another while! was starting to get excited to meet him!

Thanks again for the comments, got me through the 'is this it!' scary moment! x

Don't worry mummyamber It won't be long. It won't be long now anyway and you'll meet your lo soon, so excited for you.

It's true what they say - when you're in labour you will definitely know it!

Good luck!

baby's have a habit of making you thing they are on their way - DS1 was 2 days late, DS2 was 7days late (even though I swore i was going to have him early!) You will know when it is proper labour - it HURTS!!! LOL But it's a good type of hurt!
good luck

hey guys, thanks for more of your comments, i was convinced that baby was going to come early, but now... i'm not so sure. Whatever cramping and tightening i was having has left me with a really painful groin when i walk or bend over... can hardly make it up the stairs!

Do you think the baby moved into an awkward position and thats what i was feeling? i'll be so dissappointed if thats what it was after all.

i was also reading other posts about spd... never heard of that before, but the symptoms sound very similar... or maybe i'm being paranoid!

I would have thought you would have got spd much earlier if you were going to get it.

My 1st was born at 38 +2 so from 37 weeks with 2nd I was on high alert but when she hadn't arrived at 39 weeks I decided she was going to be reallyu late, my waters broke 2 days later and she was born 3 hours later! So don't resign yourself to being late yet.

Could the pain in your pelvis be the baby's engaging?
