minkersmum - what position were you in for delivery? I worried a bit about shoulders as well - hadn't had problems before but the blithering consultant went on so much about the possible size of the baby that it made you think! Anyway I was very keen to be more upright than previous births and gave birth kneeling and leaning over the back of the bed. i think kneeling and all fours type positions are supposed to make more room in your pekvis so if you haven't tried that before it might be worth a go?

Mine was quick, and unexpectedly breech, and natural. Watched by an audience of about 14 people.

What this thread shows actually is that there is no norm for a third birth - anything can and does happen! I'd read loads of stories of third births where people give birth in the time it takes to make a cup of tea but it just didn't work like that for me.

Mine was by far the easiest, and also the smallest baby which I think helped. Oh, and 11 days over due, like her brothers.

3rd labour was the best - a vaginal birth after 2 CS. And he was smaller than the others (DD1 and DD2 were 9lbs and DS was 7lbs 14oz).

A bit like no1 and no2 honestly !
An induction like no1 but more smoothly like no2 after!

northernlurker have all been waterbirths, delivered either on all fours or squatting, moved from squat-all fours for all as movement supposed to help fre shoulders if they having difficulty. So optimum postioning but still seemed tight. Think maybe being anxious was the prob this time, maybe made contractions go off as this can happen, best example is when you're labouring hard then go to hosp and it all dies down! need to relax for number 4 i reckon!

Hi everyone, thanks for the posts,

minkersmum - think it was true SD, said on notes SD, though it was resolved with McRobert's... I had SUCH a good labour till then with ds though (well, with both births actually, but as dd was 5 wks early she was small!) I laboured standing up, no drugs, then delivered kneeling leaning on a bed. I just think if he got stuck in those sort of optimum labouring conditions, it could happen again. (I also had a brilliant doula)
and, like you, I AM a worrier, I will be worried in labour and also I am at a different hospital than where my other two babies were born and THAT worries me (it doesn't have a very good reputation)

ALSO, last night at work I got SUCH a hard kick in the ribs I jumped about a foot and cried out! Am 17 weeks today, I think this one's going to be big - argh!
