Emergency section with DS1 - 41+ (7lbs 10)

Elective section with DS2 - 39+4 (7lbs 12)

Elective section with DC3 - was 39+1 but due to severe SPD etc.. consultant has kindly agreed to 38+5.
Very relieved but just worrying weight will be low.

Does this few days make a big difference?
Sorry and TIA.

emergency section (failure to dilate and fetal distress) 40+1 6lb 1oz.
after a 48 hour labour! but he was fine, and bf immediately.

sophiewd · 18/07/2008 21:54

emergency section 41+ failed induction no labour DD 7ilbs 13

Elective 38+6 as that was the day they did sections DS 81bs 5oz

Flibbertyjibbet · 18/07/2008 21:55

40+0.
So on my due date. Consultant only noticed at my 'term' appointment the day before that large baby was breech. They'd have done the section that day if I hadn't sat stuffing my face waiting over an hour for my appointment.
Not small baby with head down... the midwives had been feeling his bum for 2 months and telling me head down not engaged...
Other ladies on the ward having elective c sections booked earlier in the pregnancy seemed to be done at 38.5 to 39 weeks.

dd2 was EMCS at 40+5 after long labour failed to progress even at 10cm
she was 11lb1 and 59cm long and I think it was done under spinal as wasn't a general - had everything else though

booked in for an elective on due date if this one doesn't appear any sooner

Jas · 18/07/2008 22:03

DD2 40+5 Emergency section (General A) 8lb 7

zazen · 18/07/2008 22:04

DDi was 40+2 after induction, epidural and intervention: three days and night labour - em cs due to fetal distress. Spinal block.
She was 6lbs 13oz, and was fine.

I think you will be fine at 38+ weeks.

Snap MsHighwater - We had a homebirth planned also. Baby had other plans

eidsvold · 18/07/2008 22:31

dd1 - emergency c-section - 38 + 4 days

dd2 - 41 + 3 days - elective section ( was going to try for vbac but decided for c-section.

dd3 - spot on 39w

I know with the hospital dd2 and 3 were born in anywhere between 38 and 39 weeks they schedule c-sections.

fledtoscotland · 19/07/2008 19:39

will be having this one at 38+1. have been told i can choose the day (monday to thursday) during week 38.

lubyluby · 19/07/2008 19:51

at that stage it shouldn;t make too much difference.

my c/s were

43 weeks emergency with ds1 (10lb 4oz)

38 weeks elective for breech with ds2 (10lb 6oz)

37 week elective for breech with dd (10lb 2oz)

in light of their weights quite glad i ahd a c/s lol.
also the hopsitla wanted to bring dd date forward as i had gestational diabetes and previous big babies but i said no as was certian of my dates but they were goign by hopsital dates and scans, and so i was admaant not beofre 37 weeks, and when she was born they agreed she def was a 37 weeker as opposed to the 39 weeker thya beleived they were delivering.

maxbear · 19/07/2008 19:52

The risk of a baby having breathing problems increases irregardeless of weight, the earlier an elective section is done. They are not really supposed to do an el section before 39 weeks unless there is a good reason as the risk of the baby going to special care with breathing problems higher than a baby born normally at the same gestation. I doubt two or three days would make a difference though.

youngbutnotdumb · 19/07/2008 20:03

DS emergency section at 40+6 due to distress but was fine, but at 6 days overdue he was 6lbs 15oz so was quite small.

I wanted a waterbirth but maybe next time

betterhalf · 19/07/2008 20:04

Flibbertygibbet, that's what happened to me exactly! 40+0 and midwife at clinic had said head down engaged, blah blah, and he was breech and back to back. And a big un too.

EBenes · 19/07/2008 20:09

38 on the dot. I thought this was a bit early (and birth weight was low) but my consultant wouldn't offer me another date and I was new to things so really didn't dare ask after suggesting it was a bit early. This time, scheduled for 39 weeks.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 19/07/2008 20:22

DS emcs 41+6 after long labour and uterine complications. Epidural had 'expired' so had spinal 8lb 50z

DD elcs 39+1 weeks (spinal) 6lb 140z she was assleep, bless her.
