Where did your waters break? Do they really go in public?

I've not met anyone in RL whose waters went in M&S or the like, but I'm nearing that stage now and have started to worry that if it could happen, it probably would happen to me. Fortunately last time mine went when I got up out of bed so it wasn't really that embarassing as there was no one else about.

Anyone got any good waters stories?

mine went in bed for ds1. With ds2 not till just before 2nd stage so in hospital. I have been told your waters are more likely to go right at the beginning of labour with your first. Less likely to go at the being on 2nd/3rd etc labours (dont know if true though) so hopefully you will be at hospital at that stage

Mine went whilst getting out of bed, wearing dh's favourite tracksuit bottoms

Have to admit I worried about this too! went out well padded at all times just in case
As it turned out they didn't go at all until i gave one almighty push and out flew ds and my waters with him. Was lucky mw was ready to catch him
Apparently its good luck to be born in your waters so tell anyone brandishing hooks to sod off!

On the kitchen floor, once labour was quite well established (planned home birth). Ruined that particular pair of sandals.

Sitting on the bed at home just after waking up.
Small gush as I dropped ds at nursery.
Continual leaking/gushing as I walked through the hospital holding my soaking skirt!

dd1 in hospital 9cm dilated
ds1 trickle in bed, he was born 4 hours later
dd2 big gush in bed and she was born 12 hours later

Serving dinner to DH!
I like telling the story as it makes him look really bad. I was 9 months preg and still waiting on him!
It was very dramatic and a very weird feeling - am very glad it happened at home! I think that running away and pretending it wasn't you is a v. good idea if it happens in public!

Whilst on the phone in the lounge.

'Uh, I really have to go now...'
