I suppose it depends on the circumstances of the first two cs and if they were emergencies or not? My first two were emergency cs, third time round the consultant was open to a vbac but stressed:
a) the reason for both em cs was likely physiological therefore likely to happen again
b) if I tried a vbac and the same problems occured as last time the risk of the cs scar rupturing was relatively high
c) there are higher risks of scar rupturing ater 2 cs and needing an em cs and putting yours and baby's life at danger

They were willing to let me have a go. But in the end I opted for an elective cs.

you dont have to do anything.i think theres a few posters on here who have had vba(however many)c.
have you discussed with midwife or condultant?
i had 3 cs.

lulumama · 01/07/2008 19:03

i have not , but i would! the risks of rupture after 2 c.s is virtually the same as after one. so don;t worry about that too much.

dragonbaby · 01/07/2008 19:17

i was told after two cs i had too have another as the risk of rupture was too high but it also depends on what gap there is

lulumama · 01/07/2008 20:10

maybe, but i think it also depends on how cautious and how up to date your obstetrician is.

lisasimpson · 01/07/2008 20:24

I was told after two sections that if I were to have a third it should be an elective section. First was emergency and second was crash - neither of the little darlings wanted to come out!

lulumama · 01/07/2008 20:26

it really depends on why you had c.s , and whether the interventions, if you had any, contributed to c.s

something as simple as the position you labour in and the position the baby is in can make a huge difference

at the end of the day, you can make an informed choice as to go for a VBAC or an elective. but informed choice is the key.. not being told what to do and not having any say in it. ifyswim!

lulumama- i wish id known about mn and you when i was pregnant with my 3.

MY consultant pretty much dismissed the idea that it was significantly more risky to vbac after two sections than after one, and the info I have seen does bear that out, but there are not a lot of VBA2C to get statistics on. I think the reasons for your sections is the biggerr factor to consider.
