Hello - this is my first post but I have been a bit of a lurker for a while.

I am currently 40+6 with DS2. DS1 was induced at 39 weeks due to pre-eclampsia, but thankfully I don't have PE this time. The induction was ok - one prostin, waters broke, then syntocin drip and he arrived 4 hours later.

DS2 is currently oblique so I have been booked for an ECV followed by immediate induction if its successful tomorrow. Has anyone else been through this? how successful is ECV - if it isn't will they do a c-section straight away? are second inductions often quicker than the first? I hadn't imagined any of this happening so any info would be great.

I am also terrified of going into labour today and the chance of cord prolapse - although I guess if the hospital thought that was likely they would have kept me in yesterday.

sorry you are worried.. basically, if your waters go at home, then get yourself a 999 ambulance to hospital immediately.....

check with the person doing the ECV their rates of success

as you are already a few days over, your induction might well be a speedier process , although sounds like it was fairly quick first time

if your baby remains transverse, or unstable, you may have a c.section tomorrow.

call labour ward if you have any concerns

good luck !

thanks Lulumama, that's reassuring. I just imagined I'd probably have PE again so this has all take me by surprise. At least he will be here one way or another soon - I can barely walk I am so enormous!
