Would 25% of repeat c sections result in pulminory embolisms be about right?

I cant find any statistics on it and need to!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

that seems very high.

wonderwomanakaeandh · 26/06/2008 20:29

Well I had 2 sections and not had that, and thinking through friends can think of at least 4 who have had 2+ sections and never heard any of them having pulminory embolisms so figure may be high

25% sounds very high - this website www.vbac.com/pdfs/CesareanFactSheet.pdf suggests only 1-2 per 1000 for first time Caesarians.

oldcrock · 26/06/2008 20:39

Sorry, that link is really very negative about c-sections!!

hoxtonchick · 26/06/2008 20:40

no thromboembolisms at all in this sample

hoxtonchick · 26/06/2008 20:42

ukoss is a very well respected study

hoxtonchick · 26/06/2008 20:43

sorry, that last one was antenatal pulmonary embolism

hoxtonchick · 26/06/2008 20:44

low rates here, though c-section is a risk factor (amniotic fluid embolism is something else entirely)

startingtogetveryworried · 26/06/2008 20:56

OOpps sorry, I misread something!! That makes more sense now at less than 1%!!

Thanks for your help
