Has anyone had a different incision scar with a later C-section?

Does anyone else have a completely new incision on their second / third or more C Section?

I have had 3 C Sections, 1st was unplanned but wasn’t rushed or anything (failure to progress I think was the reason), 2nd planned, and I recently had my 3rd planned. Due to everything being hectic with baby, I didn’t actually realise until baby was over 8 weeks old thar I now have a completely separate incision/scar to the one I had for the first two!

Curious as to why. The first two C Sections were many years before the 3rd (20 and 16 years ago).

Don’t know if I had adhesions. I was very anaemic at delivery they had blood banked for me in case and gave drugs to reduce bleeding could that be the reason?

I have two separate. I don’t know why either. Also was aneamic and had blood ready. I thought that was standard as had blood ready the first time too. But I am B- so maybe they had the blood anyway as rarer.

@Plotment I’m O Neg. They had a plan to minimise blood loss and had drugs to minimise cause my heamoglobin was 8.1 , maybe they wanted to get in faster cause of this. No idea either! Love the name by the way I have an allotment 😊

Maternity scrub nurse. Most
ofthe time the surgeons will
go thru the same scar especially if it’s not that great looking, they will take the scar out, take off the bad looking skin and create a new scar but in the same place. Reasons for
going above
or
below may be that the scar looks too thick to revise, it may be too low or there may be other reasons for going above like u may have had a bad healing before, infection, ur original scar is already too low. (Bladder is underneath that they obv want to avoid going near). They might also be trying to avoid going thru certain bits of
tissue for adhesions oR fibroids .

Yes. My doctor with #2 did not like the placement of my first incision and I had had trouble with it (separation and infection) so she chose to do a new one.

I had this after my second child. First was EMCS, second was ELCS. I asked the doctor at my check up why I now had a scar like a very long V shape (ie both scars joined at one end), and he said the doctor who did the op probably hadn’t read my notes to see if already had a Caesarian! I asked how it could be fixed and he said cosmetic surgery (expensive) or have another child and ask the doctor then to ensure you end up with a single scar.

15 years later I did have another child - not for that reason, but I was sure to mention the scar!

@crazeekat Ah thank you for explanation. It's about 1.5cm above the first scar. I don't have any fibroids but no idea about adhesions. The first scar does look much thicker and ragged compared to the new one. They all healed well though. I'm wondering if it could be because they had a plan to minimise blood loss so found it would be much quicker to just make a new scar..

@knitnerd90 Yeah upon googling this I found people saying the surgeon did not like the placement of previous scars.

@Elektra1 Did you just ask your GP to look up records then? I might mention it if I'm in there for anything because I am curious. Big age gap like me lol

@Plotment I actually don't have any garlic this year, but I had eaten a whole clove to try prevent a cold everyone has, and ouch haha
