More babies born on a full mooon is this true?...today is a full moon!

I have previously ben told by my midwife that more babies are born on a full moon...and today, 18th June is a full moon.

Apparently it's the moon and gravity (pulling) that does it. My friends have also given birth on a full moon and they said that their mdwife's told them the same thing...also the maternity ward was manic.

I just wanted to hear anyone leses theory?

OK, it's a while since I did physics, but surely the amount of the sun reflecting from the surface of the moon doesn't affect it's gravitational pull?

And unless you stuck the moon at the business end of parturating women, and then held on to her shoulders very tightly, I can't see how it's gravitational pull would help

at the idea of the moon pulling babies out

Think it has more to do with the moon's effect on women's ovulation cycles (more women ovulate at full moon) which will then affect when (on average) babies are born 9 months later.

I was at work last night, we only had one birth but an awful lot of women phoning up in early labour or with ruptured membranes. Uh oh, I guess that means a busy night tonight ! They have done a study that suggests that there is no difference, but most mw's would agree that it does seem to be slightly (a lot) busier on full moon nights. Was it actually yesterday that was the full moon or today...maybe I should try and get some more sleep now while I can!!

Well, am at work at the moment, definately not busy here. We have two postnatal women and no labourers. Might well eat my words soon though!

cousin is 10 cms and there going to let her start to push at 9 (epidural). so she missed the full moon! labour ward very busy though apparently they sent her home when she was 3 cm and climbing the walls

I had a strange night last night. For the whole of my pregnancy I have slept with no issues (other than the once a night pee trip). Anyway last night I had loads of nightmares about babies the running theme being that I had to get things done before I ran out of time. Also kept on waking up convinced I couldnt breathe (I could it was just a nightmare). I hadnt been eating cheese so maybe it was the moon
