EDD query

Hi all,
I've just read in a magazine that if like myself, you fall pregnant straight after finishing the pill, without 2-3 clear periods, the time of ovulation may be disrupted and vary in your cycle meaning that the EDD maybe unreliable.
I'm now 40+3 and have begun to wonder whether this is the case with myself?
Before conceiving, I did have one period of which I was certain of the date, but I'm beginning to wonder whether my cycle may have still been disrupted?? is this possible? does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm confused!

What did your first scan say?

My first scan, they said I was bang on for the dates I gave. So all the signs point towards it being correct, but it planted some doubt when I read it.
I think I'm grasping at anything which will justify being over my EDD. I know its only 3 days but I never thought i would be sooooo frustrated. Went for long walk tonight - fingers crossed it may get things moving tonight.
Raking the garden vigorously on monday did nowt.
Chicken Madras on Saturday - nada
Fresh pineapple - nothing
I'll keep trying......

one third of babies are born after their edd, in fact I think it might be a week after their edd but not sure about that

maybe you have a French baby? their edd's are a week after ours

I went to 41+5 with my second I know how bad it is.

FWIW I think nothing works, I tried EVERYTHING and nothing shifted her, only when I gave up and accepted induction was on the cards did she finally make her appearance.

Thing is it suits her personality she does everything when SHE is ready and is very spirited and stubborn.

Morocco - yeah so I hear, thats really interesting. I wonder what their overdue birth figures are in comparison to the UK?

I read on another thread that walking down the stairs sideways may help, my DH thinks I'm crazy for even contemplating it...but when your desperate!!!

Relax, babies aren't born on their due date. They're born on their birthday.

MarsLady · 10/06/2008 22:25

No point in doing the sideways walking when nothing is happening. Remember that it is an ESTIMATED due date not the actual date.

I'm reasonably convinced that being relaxed about it is the key.

Love what MKG said about babies being born on their birthday. I shall tell my antenatal class that.

It is worth considering that although it's good to do some exercise and be mobile etc, it is NOT a good idea to do massive walks / big bursts of exercise because you will be knackered at the start of labour when things do finally kick off. A friend of mine did 40 lengths in the pool at 100 mph and then went in to labour that night. Suffice to say that for No. 2, she only did daily walking and 'gentle' stuff and faired much better for it.

is it too early in the morning to bring up this or this?
