I am pregnant with my second child, only 11 months after my first which resulted in an emergency c-section.

Looking for people’s experiences, advice or recommendations on either a VBAC or election section.

Obviously neither is ideal. I would ask your consultant.

I had an elective section after a previous emergency section. The elective was a lovely experience, quite healing in a way, and seemed far less traumatic for the baby. I wouldn’t change it. What’s right for you will depend on your own circumstances but I am very much team elective. Wishing you the best.

First child born May ‘23 planned section as baby was breach.
Second child born July ‘25 VBAC with induction.

Glad I had the VBAC for several reasons: wanted to be able to lift toddler, wanted to drive, the section delayed my milk, I had loss of appetite after section. And we didn’t know if we wanted more children, more than 2 sections wouldn’t be great for your abdomen.

My midwife & consultant were happy to support VBAC, I’d waited 2 years (which is the advice) no gestational diabetes, no hypertension, I was happy to have a hospital birth & agreed to monitoring.

My advice given you are only 11 months post partum speak to a Dr, go through the benefits & potential risks.

VBAC’s are possible but they are not the safest option for everyone.

Good luck, it’s a long 9 months, don’t set your hopes on way specific way of birthing, have options, plan b’s, and discuss your wishes and concerns with health professionals.
