Went for a sweep yesterday (40 weeks exactly) and due to raised bp, had to go to the day assessment unit for monitoring. When we got there, bp had come back down and I have been booked for an induction next week .

However, this morning, I have woken up and have had a proper show, so I am wondering, how much longer will this baby be in there for? Surely it can't be much longer?!

Been experiencing braxton hicks most of the night and a few today so hoping it won't be too much longer..

you poor thing.

show and mild contractions sound very promising though so keep faith, could be soon

Kindersurprise · 07/06/2008 15:18

Sounds promising, all good signs there.

cazboldy · 07/06/2008 15:19

how exciting!

Good luck xx

Lazylou · 07/06/2008 16:11

Thanks! I'm getting really excited now but know I shouldn't be getting my hopes up . I decided in light of recent showings lol, to get off my arse and do some housework, seems the nesting thing has kicked in really late! But I'm hoping the bustling about is enough to dislodge him!

Lazylou - the labour fairy called - she says she's on her way but is stuck on the motorway. If you could just do some limbering up, she'll be with you later on tonight hopefully

PinkTulips · 07/06/2008 20:46

do you have any cumin in the house?

brew a spoonful in boiling water, add some honey to sweeten and down it. it doesn't taste too bad, kinda like dirty water but not unpleasant, and i'm convinced it dislodged ds for me.

there's also a trick involving rubbing the very centre of your big toe incredibly hard (use clary sage oil if you have it to lubricate). it's a pressure point and it can intensify mild contractions.

i had 2 very slow burners of labours as well and i spent most of both of them in the shower rubbing my toes and squatting

micci25 · 07/06/2008 20:48

with dd1 i had a show on sunday night went into slow labour on monday morning, finally had dd1 on tues morning.

Kindersurprise · 08/06/2008 10:31

How are you doing today, Lazylou?

Lazylou · 08/06/2008 13:05

Absolutely nothing! Had two braxton hicks all day so far and that's it. I wouldn't mind, but I was rushing around like a loony last night trying to get him to move but no. Looks like I'll have to go in on Tuesday after all but I keep trying to tell myself it could still happen on it's own - Tuesday is a bit of a way off yet.

Just annoyed that the sweep doesn't seemed to have worked as its been over 48 hours now. It didn't hurt but I don't really fancy it again and doubt they will do it before I go for the induction anyway

You still have a good bit of time before Tuesday.

Go and watch the football, perhaps the excitement will dislodge lo.

My almost 4yo Euro2002 baby is sleeping upstairs. The excitement definately dislodged him, only I went into labour during the final

scottishgran · 09/06/2008 18:17

Kinder

Wonder if we'll have a Euro 2008 baby this time. Bye the way you got the year wrong. DD was 2002.

here are a few ideas that some of my friends say worked for them. will keep you busy for a while!!

bouncy on the top sex
thai food
hoovering the whole house
weeding the garden
star jumps
bouncing on a trampoline
cleaning all the windows
orange juice
raspberry and cranberry juice
mangoes
rotating their hips on a birthing ball
side stepping down the stairs

nappyaddict · 10/06/2008 15:42

sorry mangoes didn't work.

what worked for one person i know was going to mini golf and bowling!!

poppy34 · 10/06/2008 15:50

bloke in greengrocers today when I went into buy pineapple also said figs were very useful (or maybe he was just trying to flog them)

Ledodgy · 10/06/2008 15:53

What worked for me was having a chicken madras and then watching that documentary about those terrible re-born dolls. I actually said on here that it was so cringeworthy it would probably send me into labour. An hour later my waters broke.

nappyaddict · 10/06/2008 16:23

chamomile tea apparently works too.

mum2oandh · 10/06/2008 16:25

walk walk walk walk walk

did it for me both times

my friend practices reflexology and recomends big toe massage (right above the joint on top of the foot) also a spot on the ankle directly below the boney pointy out bit on the inside of your foot

does that make sense?

good luck

mum2oandh · 10/06/2008 16:26

rasberry leaf tea too, or maybe you have to start that earlier?

Meeely2 · 10/06/2008 16:30

she is rather obvious in her absence, maybe she is in the throws as we speak!

nappyaddict · 10/06/2008 16:34

ginger is meant to work too.

VictorianSqualor · 10/06/2008 16:39

I wish I could advise but I tried EVERYTHING, and ended up with a cs at 41weeks.

Kindersurprise · 10/06/2008 19:53

Have you gone then, Lazylou

Scottishgran
