Can anyone suggest how to dress newborn baby during winter inside the flat and also outside .. mine is due in December. I live in London and plan on taking out on pram/ stroller after 6-7 weeks only (early Feb). I have bought vests & full body/night suits and cotton and wool blanket. Do I need pramsuit/ fleece suits for a newborn - Midwife recommended not buying/ using those at all as it overheats

Of my three, I have a November born and an early March born. The March baby was born this year. We also live in London. I used snowsuits for both in the pram when it was very cold, and fleecy pram suits when it was warmer. They are supposed to wear one layer more than you do as babies, and I definitely wear a padded coat in London in winter!

I took them out in the pram right from the beginning, not least because I needed to get out of the house.

At home they were in short sleeve vest and baby grow. If we were indoors in a colder house, I added a cardigan.

They had gro bags in the right tog for the room temperature.

I would add that all the other babies I saw around me were in snow suits and pram suits.

You don't need snow suits or pram suits for the car seat, minimal layers then a blanket over the top once strapped in.

Snow suit or pram suit when in the pushchair, no need to wait 6 or 7 weeks, walks will do you both good, and good to try and get baby used to sleeping in a moving pushchair!

My Babies went out from 2-3 weeks as did they all in my new mum group. Much more heathy but for you, in London, avoid heavy traffic! I just used a jacket and baby grow plus blankets. Hat and mittens. They really don’t get cold unless you are going out when it’s below freezing. At home just add a cardi. Most babies overheat. As a baby I was put out in my pram in the garden to sleep - in the snow! DM took pictures. Just keep head and hands covered and wrap snuggly in blankets and taking baby for a walk will be fine.
