TMI but is one's cervix usually lower after child birth?

I know I probably shouldn't be poking around down there but I need to get to know my fanjo again b4 resuming sexual relations with DP. When investigating I noticed my cervix is about an inch lower than b4 and feels longer and harder. This is 4 weeks after birth. My first thought was ARRGGHH my womb is falling out!! But I'm sure this isn't the case as my pelvic floors are quite good.

Anyone got any reassurance I could have?

Again sorry for TMI

doesn't it change at different times of month anyway? dips down near ovulation, etc
I would think 4 weeks after birth is really rather early to expect everything to have gone back to normal

ps I may be being a bit of a goody two shoes but you may wish to wait for your 6 week check to get the all clear about having sex again

however I had umpteen stitches and stuff so understand this may not be relevant for everyone

i think four weeks is well early for things to have got back to normal. DH and i attempted nookie four weeks after DS was born and it was a fiasco. way too bloody painful. i was v. upset but looking back it was probably totally unrealistic, esp given traumatic labour and episiotomy !
