Healing after C-section

I had a C-section 11 months ago. It was my second pregnancy; my first delivery was normal, this time my baby was breech. Although I healed pretty rapidly, I still find that at certain times of the month I have nameless, nagging pains in my abdomen. They only tend to last for 24 hours or so, and seem to come in waves. Doesn't feel food-related at all, they almost feel like early contractions. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I didn't feel this at all after my first pregnancy and wonder if I'm still healing inside.

It can take up to two years for the muscle fibres to replace themselves so yes you may well still be healing.

It's also likely that your muscles have moved around so you are feeling your period pains more (and period pains are exactly the same motion as contractions). Or it could be ovulation pains.

Either way, if they are worrying you, go see the GP. But first keep an eye on when in the month they happen so you can identify if they are likely to be hormonally related or not.

Hi Cakehead. I had a c-section 7 months ago and get really bad pains every month - lasts for about 12 hours or so and bad enough to give me a bit of the runs (tmi, I know). I've put it down to ovulation as I was on the pill for a short time after the baby and I didn't get any pains then. Also it seems to happen about the middle of my cycle. Strange, I never had anything like that before the baby/c-section though.

Ahh BeachBunny, that's exactly the sort of thing I get. Doesn't quite upset my tummy but feels like it might. And it's always mid-cycle, so I always know it's not period pain as such. But sounds very similar to you.

Thank you both. Feeling a bit more perky now.

Ditto, had section in Jan and get similar pains quite worrying at times. Seems to get worse if I attempt to do sit up's in a desperate way to get rid of the awful overhang! (have had to accept that the overhang will probably NEVER go away lol!)

On a serious note tho. It apparently takes a long time for the muscle tissue to revert to what it should be just take it easy I guess, and keep an eye on it. Also, keep an eye out for any small lumpy type things that may appear. I had one on the right hand side of my scar about 2 months ago and it was hurting luckily doc just said it was the muscle tissue mending itself?!? it's gone now tho.

Take care
