C section incision

Trigger warning Just incase. C section incision, attaching a picture.

So I'm 2 weeks post c section and my incision is slightly open in 1 place... I think. I ended up in triage 5 days ago because of this. The doctor took one look and said everything’s normal, despite me telling her my pain in worse in that area and I had slight green/yellow discharge. When I say slight I mean a line of it on a bit of tissue, but on more than one occasion now, never any more than a line though. She didn’t swab the area as she said there’s no need but it doesn’t seem to be getting better. Dh said it looks the same as it did when the doctor checked it. My belly is overhanging the incision so I’m worried it’s causing moisture etc and constantly patting/air drying it not just after showering. Can anyone tell me if this is normal please or if I need to get a second opinion? Other than this one part everything else seems to be healing well. Tia!!

I had to go to the nurse at the GP's to get mine dressed for a number of weeks as it didn't heal up entirely. I was told it had to heal from the inside and so no point putting another stitch in? It did heal in the end. Yours sounds worse there since there's discharge. Can you phone your HV and ask for advice

Bathe it with salt water and if it doesn't improve go to the GP or nurse.

I would either go back to triage or the GP for a second opinion. Take a photo of any discharge when you see it. Don’t have any baths though - that’s an infection risk.

Very best of luck.

It’s not uncommon for a C-section incision to heal slower under an overhang, but persistent pain, discharge (especially green/yellow), and an opening can signal infection—even if it looks mild. Since it’s not improving and you’re concerned, yes, get a second opinion. Ask for a swab this time. Better to be cautious with surgical wounds, especially in warm, moist areas.
