Induced labour 2x for same pregnancy

I just wanted to put this out there, as I had a tough time finding success stories for the same pregnancy inductions. As a first-time mum, it was hard finding positive stories, which I understand, as everyone's body is different.

I was booked for induction at 37+1 due to FGR. However, my first induction failed, the cervix refused to dilate, and it was only soft. After taking the 24-hour pessary and 3 prostine, following NHS guidelines (UK).

After 48 hours of trying without success, I was given 2 options of either C/S or induction again. I requested to go home and think about it, as the environment was already becoming mentally stimulating.

I came back after 36 hours, to try another induction, as I had my show when I went home, and I was having constant cramping. We started the whole process and it was only the last prostine dose that actually got my cervix open to 1cm. The doctor confirmed that they can break my waters to start oxytocin. That got me crying for the 15th time during the whole process 🥹.

I was taken to the delivery suite that Evening, The midwife was able to break my waters at 10pm and she started oxytocin, however, I was having painless contractions. She decided to have a second check at 3am and she apologized that the water had not finished, We had a go at re-attempting to break the membrane, it was successful this time, and that’s when I went into established labour. Mind you induced labour is quite painful, I was fine with gas and air, only to some point, then I requested for epidural, and I was able to sleep. At 6:45 am I was still 1cm but the cervix was now short. Doctors came in to have a chat on EC/S if I do not progress further. However, at 9:50 am I was already screaming in pain, felt like I didn’t even have an epidural. Due to the way I was contracting, the midwife decided to check me before 10:45 which was when I was to be assessed. When she did, I was already 9.5cm. I cried again🥺. But because of how I progressed in a space of 3 hours, the epidural couldn’t meet up and I was already screaming in pain. They topped it up with fentanyl, but it did nothing. They decided to turn off oxytocin, which did help a little. At 11:40 I commenced pushing, and at 12:36 baby was born.

I did have a little episiotomy though, after that, the baby’s head came out. And just like that, all the stress was forgotten, when I held my baby.

In all, it took patience, all of the staff kept commending my patience, as I overheard the consultant saying, he was surprised I agreed to a second induction.

I came in on Saturday for my first induction and left on Monday night. Came back on Wednesday for the second induction. Went into the delivery suite at 9pm Saturday. Established labour at 3am baby came at 12:36 pm the next day. The baby came on Sunday, it took about a week from my first induction date, to when I went into labour. And when baby came he was already 38+2 weeks.

Just to encourage any mamma out there, especially for first time moms, as its harder for our bodies to respond to induced labour❤️
