C sections are very safe! Recovery is difficult, but you'll get lots of pain relief and it's not unbearable, just take it easy when babys here and try not to do too much too soon, as tempting as it might be. Take any support you can get, especially with things like housework, cooking etc. mine was an emergency c section so I have no advice for the actual procedure but I'm sure it'll be lovely! Exciting for you OP Xxx

I’ve had two c-sections and both went very well. Recovery can be challenging but everyone is different and some people find it easier than others

best of luck, I hope all goes smoothly for you!

Set an alarm and make sure you're (or your partner) asking for your pain relief, you need to stay on top of it. Peppermint tablets for trapped wind.

Very safe ,I found recovery easier than recovering from my forceps birth .For me the most pain was the days and days of trapped wind so get some supplies ready to ease that !
Take it easy , dont rush to get out the house but also make sure you are pottering about in the house ( movement helps the wind !)

I’ve had two sections one emergency , both were fine, pain levels for me were ok I was lucky I didn’t need pain relief after surgery. My back was very weak and my insides felt weird . It was hard getting into a sitting position. I ordered a carriwell belly binder in time for my second section . It was recommended by a lady I met in the maternity ward on my first rodeo . I used it for over 3 months day and night . It held me together , supported my back and happily helped amazingly with my postpartum tummy. It was a life saver ! Congratulations you’ll be meeting your little one soon. 🌹

You feel pressure, so all the pulling and rummaging to get the baby out, but not the pain. That’s quite weird ! It’s hard being stuck on your back when you just want to see and hold your baby, but your partner can hold the baby close to your face while you are stitched and go into the recover room.
Pain afterwards is ok as long as you religiously take the pain relief meds on time. Rest as much as possible, if you have good friends or family who will come and stick a wash on or bring a meal round then absolutely take them up on that .
Good luck OP !

So safe, just really really take it easy, just be with your baby and let everyone else do all the other bits. Also maybe get something for the side of the bed to help you get up and out of bed in the night this was the hardest bit

Advice following 3 CSs.

Buy some arnica tablets
https://www.boots.com/weleda-arnica-30c-tablets-125-tablets-10304657
and start taking them a couple of days beforehand.
They are supposed to reduce operative bruising. (I know they're homeopathic etc. etc. and not medically/scientifically proven)
What I CAN say however is that they were a game changer for me. I was up and mobile much more easily than other women in my bay - less stiff and shuffley!
Just able to walk normally - to the extent that staff commented on it each time.
I attribute that to the arnica.

Also, as others have said take any pain relief going when offered, even if you think you're ok. (If you don't your current pain relief will wear off in exactly 10 minutes and you will have to wait over night until the next drug round!)
All the best xx
