VBAC or C Section dilemma

Im 16weeks pregnant with my 2nd and am so torn between VBAC or another section.
I had an elective with my first due to him being breach and although it was a mostly positive experience, I hated the spinal and how i felt during the whole thing, also ended up staying in hospital a few days due to the after effects of the spinal.
Obviously I could still end up getting an epidural / intervention or emergency c-section if I tried for VBAC too.
Would I be too optimistic to try for a VBAC without epidural 😅
My due date is also xmas eve so an elective would be better convience wise (although obviously not the priority here!)
I dont know what to do...

Could you ask your midwife if you can get to the bottom of what happened during your spinal, and if they can avoid it happening again? She may advise you that a birth debrief is the best way forward, unless you’ve had one already. Or maybe there is another way of finding out from your notes. You can make a more informed decision that way.

For all it’s worth, I’ve had one epidural and two spinals and I reacted differently every time. With the epidural I had one very shaky leg - though I’d been in so much pain beforehand, that I honestly loved it and really didn’t care. With the first spinal I didn’t have any side effects at all. With the second spinal my blood pressure went a bit low (brought back up very luckily with IV medication) and then I got a bit shakey. Not a terrible experience by any means, but not as perfect as the first.

Good idea, I do have a consultant appointment too so I can definitely ask a bit more. I havent had a debrief - I don't think I realised how much it affected me until realising I may have to do it again! 😅
