3 Elective C Sections?

Amylouise212 · 28/06/2025 23:11

I am considering having a third child, my first is 5 and second is 2. Both have been planned c section due to a pelvic fracture when I was a child. As far as I’m aware there were no complications from previous c sections and I’ve healed nicely. My second c section did take slightly longer and they mentioned they had to use a bit more force to get baby out as there was some scar tissue but again nothing too major.

I am worried about the risk having a third c section? Can anyone reassure me that 3 is acceptable and share experiences having 3 c sections?

Watching as I will be having my 3rd C section in December.

I had three sections with no difficulty at all, and recovered as quickly following my third as I did with the previous two.

I would imagine you would have been told if a third pregnancy would be inadvisable when you had your second, but perhaps you could get in touch with the hospital and see if you can have a consultant review your notes? Perhaps speaking to your GP or health visitor might be a good place to start?

When I had my youngest the dr said I would be fine to have baby number 6 but it would have to be a 3rd c-section as I had already had 2, including a failed vbac. I didn't have any more though.

I’ve had 4. 4 in 6 years actually.,no issues x

I couldn't have any further sections (or attempt vbac/labour) they were really clear with me on that, for a specific medical reason. So they would have told you in very clear terms if that was the case.

You can get a private scan to check for womb health (don't flame me anyone for suggesting that, it is a thing)

They aren't often keen on any C-section mum getting pregnant within the first year, (obv not in your case) but even then I know two mums who've been okay even with very close together pregnancies/c sections.

Thank you! I have booked in for a scan to check my uterus and scar tissue this week which will hopefully reassure me slightly that the risk may still be there but it’s not massively increased than the first two! (That’s what I’m hoping anyway)

Hi can I ask how your scan went? I am in a similar situation considering third pregnancy after 2 c sections and will also try and find a provider that offers this type of scan. Did it ease your worries? Thanks
