2nd Pregnancy After Difficult First Birth

Hi,

I am 28 weeks with my second DS and just wanting to get people opinions and experiences on birth the second time round after a few complications with the first.

My DS was 9Ib 2 and after being induced at 40+5 ended up as a forceps delivery in theatre with shoulder dystocia. I then haemorrhaged and had to have my placenta manually removed.

I have just spoken to the obstetrician who was lovely, fairly positive and made it clear that it's my body and my decision on how I deliver. However he was concerned about the shoulder dystocia my son had and the chanced of having it again.

I would love to have a vaginal birth because the idea of a c section with a toddler petrifies me but I also don't want to be silly and make the wrong decision. Would just love to know peoples thoughts and if I am just deluded in thinking I can have the lovely vaginal birth I dreamt of?

I should note this baby is also measuring bigger but still waiting on a growth scan.

If you were induced you don't really have a clue how fast you might birth your second if it's spontaneous. So with the higher risk of shoulder dystocia I would personally only risk vaginal if I was very very close to a hospital that can handle all eventualities. If you birthed in 30 minutes from first contraction, could you get there in time? Including waiting for childcare to arrive for your existing child etc.
