Morning all,Any other experiences of feeling like your body has failed them?2nd pregnancy and currently 41+6 booked in for induction after sweeps. Very strange feeling as 1st pregnancy was a week early! Had PROM so was induced with DC1 and wasn't a pleasant experience in the slightest! (Ended up in Neonatal) Have been differing the induction for over a week now and feeling totally exhausted with all the questions/comments and advice from outsiders.Any experience of better inductions second time around?TIA 😊

Or consider that your body is such an amazing, nurturing environment that your baby isn't ready to leave it yet?

No personal experience I'm afraid, but my friends that had 2nd inductions said they were much easier, so I hope yours is too

I know a few people that were induced second time and was much better. If you fully dilated before, your body remembers what to do. If you've had successful sweeps that must mean you're at least a little dilated and likely can have your waters broken. 4 out of the 5 I know didn't need the drip, their bodies did it all after waters were broken and 2 had water births, most of them also were discharged straight from labour ward with their babies rather than going to postnatal ward.

Your body hasn't failed. It's grown two babies! And induction is just a step to meeting them.

I felt exactly the same 4 weeks ago, at 41+4 with my second when I opted to get induced (no other risk factors, I was just absolutely done with living in limbo!). Turns out I didn't need inducing as I went into labour once arriving at hospital and baby was born an hour later. I think there was something in me being in the place where she would be born, and knowing I was safe. However I had mentally accepted that I would need to be induced, and actually really enjoyed the calm and orderly fashion we arranged childcare and packed the bags to head into hospital etc. good luck OP!

Apparently clary sage oil is meant to help bring on contractions, I was using it myself from 39 weeks. I was induced for preeclampsia at 39+2 but only needed the oral medication so I felt like maybe my body was somewhat ready.

I don't know if the oil helped but I figured it wouldnt hurt and it felt like I was doing something at least!

You have carried a healthy baby to full term & they are so comfortable they don't want to leave. You are not a failure.
Good luck with the birth!

Was induced for both mine at 40 + 14 amd then 40 + 17.. Second time was a million times better than the first, a very positive experience.

I can totally understand why the NHS induce, based on the statistics, but after my second birth, the doctor said the baby in no way looked 'overdue' and my body clearly just gestates for longer than average, so they wouldn't pressure me for an induction again.

Mine went to term, term plus 10, term plus 14,

Only the 1st was induced, others were born at home with no issues.

I had lots of false labour starts during the night which ended in the morning - I think all of mine took a while to get into the right position to start off labour.

The one that was induced ended up in trouble because he was in a bad position and had cord round his neck.

My 41+7 baby is a lovely 10 year old now.
All up from booking in to check was 24hours. Had two lots of gel. Birth was fast but not crazy fast. I used hot water in the hospital shower, gas and air, and the birth pool.

I would caveat this with some things may bring on contractions, but doesn't mean they're productive ones. You might find you cause yourself contractions that aren't productive or doing anything so you're just making yourself even more uncomfortable while you wait.

Oh OP I’m sorry, please don’t feel this way. My DC1 arrived at exactly 42 weeks! I’d had terrible SPD for most of my pregnancy and constantly thought I was going into labour because the pain was so bad but it turns out I was destined to go to the full 42 weeks!

Your body has absolutely not let you down OP. You are doing a wonderful job and you are so close to meeting your lovely little one.

This is me!! I'm 42 weeks today and had two failed inductions, resulting in 2 c sections. I've a c section booked for Tuesday because I think my body just doesn't know what to do!
