either just before or when you get a show/your waters break?

Feel like mine are going to go but can't describe it.............weird really just wondering if what I'm feeling is what I think it is or just me being strage?

My hind waters broke which is a bit different to the "main" waters (sorry can't remember the right word). Often (in my case) the hind waters trickle in an irritating way, I had to change pads every couple of hours or so. Other people have a big gush as the main waters go.

I also felt (but may have imagined) a kind of popping/bubbling feeling just before.

How are you? How exciting...

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/05/2008 11:59

Your watersac could be bulging?

Most people don't know it's going to happen, it just does - iyswim

If you are not sure, give your mw a ring.

PortAndLemon · 19/05/2008 12:01

I felt a kind of popping when my waters went both times (but can't describe it better than "a kind of popping"). Didn't feel anything odd beforehand and never had a show.

rockinmum · 19/05/2008 12:21

See I keep getting a popping sensation, similar to baby hiccupping earlier in pregnancy and am 'leaking' constantly. (I know thats gross but hey no other way to describe it)

Seeing midwife on Wednesday anyway..should I wait until then and see if anything more significant happens between?

Thanx

Mine felt like the baby's head! She did pop out about five minutes later, though, so it probably was in part.

rockinmum · 19/05/2008 12:25

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh..........scary thought! lol - sorry sat in work and they would probably get me to fill in a sickness form before they let me leave!

I would call your MW and tell her what is going on. She'll advise you what the best thing to do is.

Good luck, it sounds like things are starting

belgo · 19/05/2008 12:27

Yes call your midwife today, it could be your waters breaking.

belgo · 19/05/2008 12:27

You're not on maternity leave yet? How many weeks are you?

rockinmum · 19/05/2008 12:32

Well.........it's a bit of an odd story actually....hospital put our due date as August 15th, but that would mean we got pregnant on or around November 23rd. We did the pregnancy test on Halloween and baby measured big on 20 week scan but the hospital and midwife wouldn't change the dates.

I also lost 2 1/2 stone in 14 days at start of pregnancy so don't have a 'large' bump apparently, but I think I do, measured it yesterday at 34cm.

Don't want to ring midwife and have her say I'm being silly.

PortAndLemon · 19/05/2008 12:34

So basically by your dates you'd be due early July?

rockinmum · 19/05/2008 12:34

By our dates we'd be June 23rd ish

OP posts:
belgo · 19/05/2008 12:35

No, she won't say you are being silly! It's even more important to phone, or to go to the labour ward itself, you need to know if there are signs of pre term labour.

Really, you need to get this checked out.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/05/2008 12:36

As per Belgo, go and see/speak to someone now.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 12:38

Hideous pressure, as though a basketball is being pushed down on your pelvic floor by a very strong man.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 19/05/2008 12:41

But as you are early, I'd agree just go to the labour ward and they will check you over.

NotABanana · 19/05/2008 12:42

The first time mine went I didn't have a clue what had happened and DH went running to find a midwife saying: there is something coming out of DW! The second time I knew what had happened.

funnypeculiar · 19/05/2008 12:44

defn give the midwife a ring (speaking as someone whose waters broke early ... )

artichokes · 19/05/2008 12:47

If you are constantly leaking and are at least 6 weeks before your due date then I would go to the hospital/speak to MW immediatley. Your baby could be born VERY quickly if it is a premmie and it will need medical attention.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/05/2008 08:23

How are you doing RockinMum?

rockinmum · 21/05/2008 11:09

Hiya all,

Got discharged from the hospital last night as I just wanted to come home to DH.

Apparently babys head is very low and 'baby feels very big for 27 weeks' - you don't say???? lol.

Got midwife this afternoon to have a routine appointment and to get her to look at my dates yet again, possibly go for a growth scan.

Started getting really bad pain in my lower back and sides/pelvic area yesterday morning so have got to get her to check that out.

Hospital said to keep an eye on things as it is easier to prove waters have broken than it is to prove they haven't so baby could still be imminent.

I'll keep you updated

thanks for all the advice

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/05/2008 11:13

Glad to hear you are both ok.

Are you all prepared for an imminent arrival, or have you got to rush round buying things for the baby?

Oh, and although you have just come out of hospital, don't forget to pack your hospital bag!

rockinmum · 21/05/2008 11:41

Yep, got everything apart from pushchair (my mum) and cot (DH mum) both are being ordered this week now. Moving house on Tuesday so hope she doesn't come before then.

Hospital bag is packed - in a hurry on Monday as we left but will be repacked later today if I feel up to it.
