I've been so emotional for 2 days constantly crying!! Upset because I won't be pregnant anymore, it's been such a journey,
Emotional that after 4 years ttc we're finally at the point of making it and getting our baby
Anxious about the surgery and recovery itself - I'm litterally imagining the tools they'll use on me and lying there bleeding out or the spinal failing and needing a general anaesthetic, DH going home and being clueless with a new baby to look after wahhh!!

OP you will be holding your baby very soon.I had 2 ELCS and the experience was fabulous Xx

Soundsofblue · 26/02/2025 14:46

Good luck OP, look forward to holding your little boy soon! Xx

I wouldn't bother with the laxatives, but drink absolutely loads of water as well as high fibre foods, avoid opioid pain relief. And keep on top of the pain relief, alternate and overlap the nsai and the paracetamol.
I hope it is fabulous and all goes well.

@anonny55 Congratulations 🩵 Well done Mummy❤️
Enjoy every minute of these newborn cuddles. Remember to take little videos of all the newborn snuffles and sounds and faces. They’re some of my favourite things to look back on now ❤️

Scutterbug · 26/02/2025 21:37

The day before is so surreal! I’ve had 4 sections so honestly they can’t be that bad if I went back and did it again and again!
Enjoy your evening as much as you can. In 24 hours your life will be so different and you’ll have that gorgeous snuggly bundle to cuddle!
Good luck xx

AnxiousLurker · 26/02/2025 21:37

Congrats! Ive had 2 electives, last one 6 months ago. Positive experiences; now you're safely out the other side, here are a couple of things over the first few days I found in case of any use to you

-day 2-7 the hardest pain and recovery wise. A real wobble around day 3 here. Hormone crash, post op wound pain and stuff. Stay positive, by this time next week it will be so much better. Take allll the meds.

-breastfeeding may be tricky (first time way harder than second). Keep ploughing on if that is what you want to do. It will get easier -well it's a pain in the boob for the first 6 weeks whilst it's all stabilising but after that it's much plainer sailing. Get all the breastfeeding advice you can in hosp, you can't really learn this by anyrhing other than doing. If hosp advice crap, just psy for a Private llbc lactation consultant to come to your house. This def saved my "journey". With the first I supplemented with some formula in the first few days and still went on to bf 12 months

-I found it much easier the second time just getting up moving around and getting home from the hellish ward where no one was sleeping 24 hours after the birth. First time I had a private room and stayed 3 days as it was a far more pleasant post op experience. Drink loads of water to pee enough to be discharged if that is your plan

-if you can get a granny to help the first few days if you are at home that helps so much. First few nights our second just wanted to be held all night. My mil did 3 hour stints on and off for us to catch up on sleep.

Hope you're doing ok and not too exhausted x

IdaClair · 26/02/2025 21:42

Congratulations! Lovely to read your update. How much did the little chunk weight in the end? Enjoy tonight!

Oncemoreuntothebreachmother · 26/02/2025 21:43

^^ inshould say pain days 2-7 but decreasing throughout that period. The uterus contraction pain when you breastfeed was about as bad as it got for me. It will get better soon x

Hey all, just had 5 mins to have a scroll as we’re taking baby for a little walk around the shops today so peace and quiet while his in his car seat ..feeling confident to get out and about a bit more now..he’s 16 days old now. It’s flown by. He was 9lb6 at birth so a little under what they were saying. Although yesterday health visitor weighed him and he’s already 10lb7!! Everyone keeps saying he doesn’t look like a newborn. He’s so awake and alert staring around at everything. Day 3 and 7 was the worse for me. Day 3 I think I just sobbed all day🤣hormone drop obviously and didn’t sleep for the first 24hrs of his life as he just wanted to be held and dh wasn’t allowed to stay on the ward with me to have him and during the day the ward was super loud I just couldn’t sleep!! Day 7 was the worse pain wise. I had trapped wind pain so bad in my shoulder and ribs, litterally screaming in pain it was so bad! Peppermint oil capsules and peppermint tea sorted that pretty quick though. The c section went well and id do it again in a heartbeat for him. If I had another I think id try for a vbac. It obviously felt very clinical and unnatural to have him cut out of me but ultimately it was the safest option and he’s here safe now. I also think him being taken away for oxygen when he was born put a dimmer on it all too. My recoveries going well and I’m feeling 1 million times better already. Bottom of my belly still feels real tight and just weird😆I’m sure I’ll get used to it - I can feel the scar tissue around the bottom of my tummy which I wasn’t expecting😅 baby’s feeding well and gaining weight so will see the HV next at 6 weeks. He’s sleeping in 2hr30 burst at night the past few nights which has felt like a dream! He wouldn’t let us put him down for the first week😅he’s just amazing and I’m feeling so blessed. Thank you all for the lovely comments!❤️
