3c degree tear - second baby?

My DD was born Sept 24. She was 9lb 6 and I had a 3c degree tear. On the whole recovery has been ok.

I’m not ready for a second baby yet, but I worry about having a second and the extra damage it will cause. Did anyone go on to have a second?

I had a severe 3rd degree tear. I had c sects after that.

Hello,

I had a bad 3c tear (basically nearly 4th degree) with a huge baby first time around (awful, feel your pain). Two elective c sections for my others, no regrets and they were very straight forward! I was advised to do this.

I had that with my second.

I had a 3rd about 5 years later, and had a VB, no damage whatsoever.

I was monitored throughout as #2 was quite large (9lbs11oz) and I had what they termed a precipitous labour. They wanted to be sure the same didn't happen again leading to further damage (and I had Strep apparently, so needed antibiotics in labour), so were planning to induce a week or two early if he looked fully grown. He came a week early in the end at 8lb4oz.

I had a 3b and was advised for a c section after. I chose not to have another, but if I did, I would choose a section.

I did. Second ended up with a second degree tear. C section for third but only because I had a prolapse. the tear was more fun than a c section!

3b tear with DC1.

2 years later episiotomy and small tear (stitched under local in the delivery room) with dc2.
He was 2w late, 9lb8.

I could have requested a c section, probably, but the place I delivered was very pro minimal intervention so they were very happy to support VB. I was told the risks of another significant tear were minimal.
