Will I be advised to have a C-Section?

DC2 was born 8 and a half years ago via emergency c-section. I believe it was because my waters were going in the few days leading up to it and they didn't believe me, so I ended up contracting an infection and we were both very poorly. They were adamant it wasn't to do with my waters leaking and said they weren't sure why it happened.

Anyway, we're now TTC #3 and I'm terrified they're going to want me to opt straight for a c-section. The actual op was absolutely fine, but my recovery was awful and I hated it. It's the thing that's put me off of trying for another DC for all these years.

Does anyone think they would push for me to have a c-section or can I opt for a natural delivery? DC1 was a straight forward labour and birth, aside from being back to back, and I only needed a few stitches. Hoping for some positive opinions! 🙏🏼 thank you x

I think it’s worth baring in mind that an emergency c section is very different to a planned one. Your experience sounds difficult. That said, your midwife should discuss this all with you at your booking in appointment, plenty of women have vbacs, so I don’t see why they would push you to a c section.

I had 2 VBACs and the section was an emergency. Definitely speak to your midwife when you get one

Hi both, thank you so much for replying. That has massively put my mind at ease!! 😅

Given you have already had a successful vaginal birth you will be considered an excellent candidate for a VBAC. Unless you have any other medical issues you haven’t mentioned (or any complications from the CS?) there is logically no reason you would be pushed into another CS this time around.

Thank you so much for this. Nope, no known health or medical issues and no complications with the CS. I'm feeling very positive now, thank you all for your reassurances 😊

I’m not a medic but I can’t see why they wouldn’t let you try for a VBAC if you wanted one?

I had a c first time around (EMC). I went for a VBAC for dc2 and they didn’t push me either way in birth choices I could have chosen either option. They would have supported me with a tailored birth plan either way. I had another EMC

im pregnant again dc3 and will opt for a elective but again they aren’t going to force me and its been my choice although they have given strong medical reasons why a vaginal might be more risky

Ok thank you for this. I think because I was just so close to not coming home with my baby, I wondered if they'd not want to take a risk next time. But it seems I'm worrying about nothing and I can choose to VBAC which is what I want 😊
