Planned c section after fast first birth?

First birth was 1 hr 18 from first feeling / pain at 38 + 2. Due again in September, worth asking for a planned section or an induction? I don’t want to risk giving birth alone at home with my LO present

Of course the idea is worrying but also remember the other side of things. Once you give birth this time you will immediately have 2 small children to take care of, not one. Your older child will be climbing on you, wanting to be picked up, you will be bending on the floor playing with him and collecting toys - there is no taking to the sofa with second baby. All that is hard to do after major abdo surgery.
Be guided by your midwife.

Of course it is, if that’s what you want. I had a similar discussion with my midwife as my second was born after a 33min labour (we didn’t even make it to the car). Luckily my eldest was still in bed.

my Midwife was very supportive and so was my consultant.

I had an emergency c-section then a planned c-section and it was fine. I loved both my c-sections even though I had planned a full hypno birthing water birth with my first!

The pain relief drugs they send you home with are so great - they got rid of all my pain - that you have to consciously remember not to over do it, as you have no pain signal to remind you.

I had my H for the first two weeks to help out and eldest was at nursery three days a week after that. Honestly, it was fine.

I think you should ask if your hospital has a consultant midwife to talk it through with. I had a brilliant discussion with the one at our hospital for a different reason (breech baby) and she was really good at talking through all the risks and benefits of each option. She did say that second vaginal births are often quicker and easier than first births (mine certainly was) so I think they'll be keen to put a plan in place for you. Would you consider a homebirth? You'd have everything in place at home then just in case.

Any quicker and easier and I’ll be sneezing this one out 😂
my worry with a home birth is it being so quick that I’d be on my own

😂Definitely something to weigh up with the midwife! How far are you from the hospital? Would you be risking giving birth by the side of the road? Might be safer to stay put and have the midwives come to you rather than you getting to them / waiting for childcare etc. Just to give an example, my first labour was 12hrs and my second was 1hr 15mins 😬(and the second one was supposed to be a c-section but i actually went into labour before my c-section date. Baby had turned herself head down so we just went with the very fast flow!) You've got lots of time to get a plan in place.

I have had 2 home births. The first one baby came before we could get the midwives to come back as they had checked me at 3pm then being 3-4 cm as a first time mum they said they didn't expect me to give birth till around midnight. Well she came just before 6pm. The second time was almost a carbon copy birth but because of my first birth they didn't want to leave after checking me. He was born just before 5pm. One thing I will say about fast birth at term is it's usually straight forward and uncomplicated. You just have to catch. My little girl was there throughout my labour and was in the room when her brother was born. She was 2 years 2 months. I love that she thinks babies are born at home in the paddle pool.

I had an elective csection on Friday after previously emergency one with my DD.

It was honestly such an incredible experience and I cannot rate it highly enough. I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced such a calm and lovely birth after previous trauma...(Sounds a bit woo-ey must be the strong painkillers taking 😂) I haven't got a negative thing to say about an elective csection!

Maternal choice is a valid reason for a c section. I had a very fast first birth (under an hour all in) and then 2 c sections.
