C section when I'm prone to haemorrhaging- experiences please?

I'm fairly sure my consultant is going to recommend me to have a c section as my previous natural birth was complicated and I'm now high risk. However, both times I've given birth, I've haemorrhaged and I read that you lose more blood in a c section than you do naturally. Has anyone else been in the same position and how did it go for you if you had a c section? It's honestly worrying me a lot, although my first birth felt like it was from a horror film.

what was the cause of the bleeding in the last two deliveries?

Blood loss during a section is usually expected to be a little more, but still not normally haemorrhage levels (~1.5L is the standard definition of a haemorrhage in a normal sized woman). Quite often though blood loss in a section is only a few hundred mls. All depends on the details and your obstetrician should be able to go through things properly with you.

I haemorrhaged due to placenta previa with my first. As standard procedure for placenta previa they have the cell salvage team present. If you are a haemorrhage risk they can have them ready. Perhaps ask the consultant if this is part of the plan.

Cell salvage is where they collect your lost blood, filter it and give it back to you.

I had an emergency section with baby no. 1 because of group B strep sepsis - had a 7 litre bleed and around 10 units of blood transfused. Second baby was a planned section, no problems, completely calm, home 24 hours later!
Hope all goes well for you.

I haemorrhage with my natural birth due to 4th degree tears and a retained placenta. I had a double blood transfusion shortly after birth.

My 2nd c-section I was at risk of haemorrhage due to fibroids. They told me they alert the blood bank prior to surgery to make sure it’s easily available and I went first in the queue. It was all fine tho.

I haemorrhaged first delivery due to time in labour and a big baby during my c section. I can’t remember the blood loss, about 3.5litres I think.

I was very worried about the same thing happening, I was completely floored after my first delivery (I should have had a transfusion but they didn’t re test my iron before discharge). Anyway I lost like 400mls second time around which was a relief (and I recovered super fast). The anaesthetist was also amazing and assured me they had 3 bags of blood in theatre for me if needs be.

I haemorrhaged with my first baby after a forcep birth.

I had a csection with my second and was completely fine!

I haemorrhaged twice with vaginal deliveries so chose a c section for my last birth as I felt that if things did go wrong there was a whole team ready to help rather than an overworked midwife pressing the panic button. It was fine no excess bleeding and I felt safe it was a much better experience.
