Advice needed on induction after previous c-section

Hi I am now 40+1 according to scanning dates but I am 40+6 according to my own dates.

MW said yesterday to come and see her next thursday which would make me well over 41 weeks by my dates and over 41 weeks by scan dates.

She said if I had not gone into labour by then she would book me in for a sweep two days later and then if nothing a induction two days after that. This seems like a very long time to me, and I am a little worried.

Also she said they would use syntocin and I hear thats not good for a potential VBAC.

Should I start making unhappy noises now or is it safe to go over that long.

Please advise

You know Klaw, if I'd have actually thoghut about it, my answer probably would've been the same as yours, I just get so wrapped up in my case and think of any form of induction being used when baby needs to come out, ratehr than just because of dates.

Having said that, I don't think I'll be worrying about 'poor placental blood flow' next time if it goes as well as this one did (bar the doppler), 10lb 3oz doesn't say 'placenta not working' to me!

I know what you mean VS. If, for some reason induction has been agreed, then a sweep the day or two before induction is worth a try. However, what I see is women having sweeps from their due date in order to get labour going. Why are we doing that? Why are women requesting it?

I agree with Klaw's post and I just wish we could let nature take it's course. In the vast majority of cases, labour will start when the baby is ready to be born.

Still nothing doing here.

I am going to ring consultant on Tuesday and try and arrange meeting. When I agreed to a VBAC I did so witht the odds on a natural labour starting, NOT with induction.

been up all night with regular early labour contractions. Fairly painful but managable but it seems the feckers have gone off the boil.

AAAAAAARRRRRRHHHHHHHH

Have you tried nipple stim? Really seemed to work for me. Also try a long walk. Good luck!

Beeper, ignore cotractions at night time, get to bed and if they are real you will not be able to get any sleep. If they are the pre labour ones that are doing loads of positioning work etc then you will be able to doze and possibly sleep right through.

It's important right now to carry on as normal and not clock watch or try to pre-empt labour. Check out this link for first timers to get some good tips.
