Induction due to high blood pressure

Hi ladies. First time mum to be here. After conceiving through IVF, I’ve had a pretty textbook and positive pregnancy. At my 40 week midwife app at 39+4 days, she noted my blood pressure was too high on the bottom number (going beyond 90). I was sent to my hospital for observations where they found no other signs of preeclampsia and all other tests came back fine- was given an at home monitor which fluctuated around the boundary of 140/90 so they got me back in today. After my obs that again, apart from blood pressure, were all good- but they recommended I be induced sooner rather than later due to the high BP. I am currently 40+1 and had a sweep today at the hosp in hopes of avoiding induction but they’ve said it’d be via the balloon insertion. Just looking for any words of wisdom from anyone who’s been through it with high BP- I’ve been trying to manage my disappointment at it not being the birth I thought I’d have after an easy pregnancy. Thanks in advance x

I had high blood pressure throughout my pregnancy and was eventually diagnosed with pre-eclampsia but luckily it stayed relatively mild. 145/80 was usually where I was at although I had 150/90 some days. I was induced at 40 weeks and they recommended I have an epidural as this can help lower blood pressure a bit. Having epidural can slow labour down and some people don't like not being able to move around into preferred positions. I'm glad I had it though - I had other complications so needed to have constant monitoring and iv's which meant I had to lie still anyway. Epidural bought my blood pressure down nicely and allowed me to still feel contractions just without the pain, which was amazing! I had balloon insertion induction too. Took 24 hrs for me before they could break my waters. It was my first baby too :) Best of luck, they'll take good care of you. Enjoy meeting your precious little one!
