Post episiotomy - not for the squeamish

Urgh, just saw the GP as 6 months after epis I still feel horrible down there. Turns out I have grown some extra flesh (granulated tissue I think she called it) and will need to have it cauterised. I feel really rotten about it all, can't even entertain the thought of husbandly relations.
Also a none too pleasant smell from this extra tissue so could also be infected.
Urgh again
Please tell me that I will recover from this eventually and that I can have sex again like a normal person

sorry to hear about this, i hope this bumps the thread for you to get an answer.

Oh I'm sorry. My episiotomy scar has not been a bundle of fun either. Please trust me that you are not alone - there are a lot of us on here who've had problems and I certainly haven't told anyone in RL. The good news is that they have identified the problem and they can do something about it. Hopefully someone will come along soon who's had the same procedure. There are a lot of stories here on MN about successful corrective surgery, so the outlook is good.

I had a 're-fashioning' of mine, after a bad episotimy. At one point I thought I would never have sex again, let alone have another sprog.
But after the surgery, everything healed up beautifully and, let's just say, all back to normal...
ds2 born a year later .

This happened to me - I was allergic to the sutures, stitches broke down, got infected and then as it healed up I had a lot of scar tissue which was over granulated, tight and v painful. Had lots of sessions of having the scar tissue burnt off with silver nitrate, physio, and 2 lots of surgery to remove scar tissue and resuture. Took a long time, I'm being honest, but in the end it was OK. And got pg, had another DD - by elective CS (no arguments there!). Don't despair, you will get better. After this happened to me, I discovered the same thing had happened to two of my friends who had had Dcs previously and never said anything at the time. I think it's an awful lot more common than you might think, and tbh, one of the hardest aspects of it to deal with, I found, was the blase, "Just be thankful you have a baby" attitude of some doctors and midwives, as if my health was somehow not as important. Good luck with your treatment.

Oh dear, all sounds painful. I feel a bit "why me" and sorry for myself tonight, I had the worst pregnancy and childbirth. Beautiful ds though, bless him
