Hi all,

I am currently planning on having baby number 2 and wanted some advice.

With baby number 1 I had a planned c section. This was due to me being borderline pre eclampsia and really not wanting to be induced. I was also strongly advised against using the birth centre to have a water birth. I opted for a an elective c section as the thought of having a lot of intervention during childbirth really worried me. I was told I'd needed to be checked every 15 mins during birth and to be honest, it sounded a little too chaotic for me.

Since having my little one I really regret not having a natural birth. I am now planning my second baby and wanted to hear peoples stories about a VBAC and if you managed to have a water birth with this? I'd love to be fully aware of everything as I'd love to experience a natural, calm birth if possible.

Thank you xx

I had and emergency c-section with my first, my following two dc were VBAC.
Personally I found recovery from the VBs much easier, but that might be because my c-section was unplanned and rather rushed.

Sadly due to the complications in my first pregnancy, I was advised against a water birth, in fact I was put in a room near the operating theatre just in case and unfortunately had to be strapped to monitoring equipment throughout labour, so there is a chance you may have similar recommendations.

I had a VBAC after an emergency c-section.
All went really smoothly and DD was born 5 hours after the first contraction.

I did ask about a water birth and my midwife seemed to think I could maybe stay in the water while early contracting but they advised I wouldn't be able to give birth in the water due to scar rupture risk and them wanting to keep a close eye! And also being hooked on a monitor. My midwife said to speak to my consultant about it to see so I guess it depends on the hospital as they mentioned something about a cordless monitor but only having a limited amount of them.

Deffo speak to your midwife/consultant and see what they say when it comes to it 😀

I'm sure someone will come along with a bit more helpful info!

I had a successful vbac and highly recommend this Facebook group for support, positive vbac stories and advice.

I planned for a water birth but there wasn't time in the end as baby came very quickly. It was everything I wished for though!

Play it by ear as if preeclampsia creeps in again the choice maybe taken away from you. I attempted a vbac after 15 month gap but sadly ended in another emc they asked me in labour if I wanted to go in the pool but I didn't

I had 2 natural births after a planned c section. I was induced for the first v bac with the balloon. Happy to share more if needed.
my Third baby shot out without any need for help!
no regrets at all, recovery was WAY easier, but my pelvic floor did suffer compared to C-section.

I didn’t have water birth as couldn’t due to induction first time round (but without that I was signed off to try) and no time second!
