I gave birth 2 weeks ago and suffered a second degree tear after forcep delivery. I’ve been so sore ever since. The pain has slightly subsided since day one but i still get a sharp stinging pain from time to time inside my vagina canal. Also my bleeding goes from being little to nothing to suddenly lots of fresh blood, is that normal? I’m also feeling heavy down there like i’m carrying weight in my vagina and urethra. I feel like i’ll never feel normal again. I just want to be pain free, how long will this last,?

Please contact 101 and ask now. I think the soreness is understandable but the bleeding is something you need to get medical advice about. I had retained placenta and was bleeding and if it causes haemorrhage this can be dangerous. If you don’t call 101 now make sure you speak to your doctor in the morning. Congratulations on your new baby.

I also had a second degree year with forceps delivery and it was a horrible pain for 3/4 weeks which gradually reduced. I totally underhand the feeling of heaviness down there, I don't even know why that happens. I remember I couldn't even sit down or stand for more than 3 mins at a time and I also had haemorrhoids which made the pain even worse.

I'd say it took 6/7 weeks for the pain to reduce where it wasn't as painful and didn't notice as much

I'm now 5 months postpartum and don't feel a thing! So it does get better. Hang in there xx

I have had two ventouse deliveries with episiotomy both times and both times I had significant pain for around 4 weeks. I bled lochia for about 6 weeks after both births too.

What you're describing sounds unfortunately normal to me however if you're concerned at all you should seek midwifery or doctor review. I have had some degree of suture breakdown both times, the second time was earlier and worse and I did at least get given dihydrocodeine tablets for that, which did help a lot as the pain was so awful otherwise.
