Elective c-section shave or not

Hi mums

Anyone who had an elective c-section or any c-section did you shave or not ?? The reason I ask is because I want to do the shaving myself . I don't feel comfortable with a midwife or anyone else doing it . Was there any problem when you shaved yourself ?

I got DH to put on some veet cream, which meant the hairs grew back with softer ends, and less were less irritating than if they'd been shaved. I'd recommend that. No risk of cutting yourself (and therefore infection) and it made DH feel useful 😂

I gave myself a trim with DH's electric razor with ELCS #1. Didn't bother with ELCS #2 and they shaved the top inch in theater. After I was numbed though, so I wouldn't even have known if the nurse hadn't explained what she was doing.

Also, I am the most modest person ever - I won't even be naked in the gym changing room and would rather die than go topless on the beach - but I genuinely didn't give a fuck when I was all numbed up and on the table. There were concerns about DD too, so the room was busier than Piccadilly circus with doctors, nurses and medical students all over the place.

It was nothing to do with the shaving- just that she said she was going to pretend she didn't exist. I'm sorry I didn't read the hyperbole at 6 in the morning but I'm not judgemental and I'm not a cow I'm just someone who misread the tone of a message.

I meant pretend I don't exist as I'm embarrassed about my body lol not anything mentally wrong

lol I think you misunderstood 😂😂😂

Sorry I misread the hyperbole- do whatever makes you most comfortable.

I had my pre op call yesterday. The midwife said shave the top if you can reach/wont injure yourself. Otherwise she says they will do it before the surgery.

They shave the area they need to anyway

liveforsummer · 05/10/2024 08:12

I was tipped off by a dr to do it myself as the nurses would just go in dry 😅 had a nice shave with foam on that advice

Autumnalfun · 05/10/2024 08:14

Op, it’s not a whole bic and shaving foam job. They just use the clippers if they have to on the very top section.
