I will be 12 days overdue on Thurs! I am really hoping for a vbac but I will be induced on Thurs with only the gel. They will not give me the drip as I only had a section 16 mths ago.

Has anybody else found the gel to be a success? Did you go into labour straight after? Was the labour more intense and painful than without? If it doesn't work will they try it again or will I end up with another section?

I am booked in for a second sweep tomorrow so I'm hoping It might work this time but slowly losing hope!!

Have a look at this before you make your mind up.
I would always advise women to wait to go into labour naturally, VBAC or otherwise, but I would run a mile if someone suggested to me that they intended to induce a VBAC labour with prostin gel.
If you're adamant that you want to be induced, opt for the drip - as it's been rightly pointed out, if it causes problems it can be turned off immediately.

i had the gel with ds1, it took 2 lots. but with ds2 it took 3 lots of gel and then was put on the drip( i had also had a sweep before the gel, then my waters broken after the gel, but still didnt start). imo the drip contractions were a lot worse than the gel.

I found that contractions experienced during natural labour are completely different to those experienced during artificial induction, and I've heard the same thinbg from others on countless occasions.

Another reason for letting nature take its course and waiting for labour to start by itself. Unless there is a really good medical reason, waiting should be the norm - sadly it appears that induction is the norm, and usually done far too early as well IMO.

I had gel with DD, had one application at 10am, contractions started at 2pm, DD born by emergency C-section the following morning at 7:30, I dilated 10 cms and pushed for 2 hours but she wouldn't budge and hadn't descended enough for forceps/ventouse delivery.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I haven't had a non-induced birth so I can't really comment on the differences between natural and induced contractions, having said that I would try to put off an induction in the future. But I understand you can't put it off forever!
