Anyone had a recent c-section at St Mary's hospital Manchester?

Bit worried about today's published safety rating, especially infection control and undertrained staff. Due a c section there in April.

Hi I am due in June 2025 and need a c-section for medical history. Trying to decide between Wythenshawe and St Marys. Bumping your post :) Good luck with everything :)

Hi, I am due in Jan25, so obviously interested too. Where did you find the forms?

My friends really recommend St Mary's Oxford road, saying they are very well equipped to deal with any complication, but they don't have recent experience.

I am so far very happy with their antenatal care

I had a C-section there earlier this year. I found everyone involved in the actual surgery amazing, I healed really well and had no issues with any infection or anything like that. Having said that, I personally didn’t find the aftercare as good as I did at Wythenshawe with DC1, in particular the night staff, but it wasn’t terrible at all.

Hi. Just wanted to update. C-section went well at St Mary's. It was quite busy in theatre compared to my first c-section which was at a different hospital. I felt in safe hands. Aftercare was on the whole good but also patchy. One midwife who worked the nightshifts in particular was great but one night there was a change of staff and we were left to it pretty much so had to buzz to keep on top of pain meds.I had catheter in for 48 hours so had to stay 2 nights.

In terms of hygiene, it seemed clean but there was a strong smell.of urine on the corridors. Happy to answer any questions and good luck to anyone who is due to have one.

I've heard great things about aftercare at Wythenshawe too

Hi. I am due in November and under the care of St Mary's due to an awful experience at Bolton with my 1st. As I had a traumatic 1st vaginal birth I am considering a C section here. How did you find it from start to finish? I am so nervous I may be making the wrong choice. Many thanks!

Sorry. I've only just seen this. I hope everything went well x
